Dyson AM09 Hot+Cool review: Dyson's new air multiplier won't blow your socks off

 

At $450, this luxury appliance could do a lot more to set itself apart.

The Dyson AM09 Hot+Cool performed very well in our tests, and offers a distinctive, functional, feature-rich design.

Though very solid, the AM09 doesn't outperform much cheaper competitors by a wide enough margin to justify the price difference. If you misplace the remote, you'll be unable to access common controls like oscillation and the sleep timer.

Unless you're the most devoted Dyson loyalist, you'll find much better values if you shop around -- including Dyson's own AM05.

Like most Dyson products, it's a beautiful, functional appliance. It also costs $450 or AU$769 (oddly for a British product, UK prices aren't available, but the US price converts to £295) -- that's $50 more than the starting price of the original Dyson...

The Dyson AM09 Hot+Cool performed very well in our tests, and offers a distinctive, functional, feature-rich design.

Dyson Hot + Cool AM09 Review

 

We've long been fans of Dyson's line of combo space heater/bladeless fans. Their new AM09 Hot + Cool Fankeeps the oblong, bladeless design, but adds separate modes to control temperature in small spaces and entire rooms.

Much quieter this time around. Improved heat and cooling performance. Still as attractive as ever. New Jet Focus Control is a welcome addition, as is the dedicated cooling button on the remote
