OK

e meant to be placed. And yes, the unit design should be taller to accomodate tall windows (no use putting it close to a window when half of the window is taller than the unit itself, and it would look silly if it was placed on some kind of leverying...

Size, although it could be a bit taller to prevent water spillage when being filled up at the top, its remote and fantastic control panel, its heater function (can warm up an average bedroom in 5 mins or maybe little-depending on temp and room size),...

Not many, just Mistral should REALLY REALLY make the pads of their evaporative coolers aspen and have relalatively reliable water distribution channels. These two factors seem to diminish the efficiency of Mistral evaporative coolers.

Bad

Nice unit that heats OK and has good controls. Excellent price and value. You may be dissapointed with the cooling.

Looks great, remote works fine, Heating is good and timer useful, Touch controls quite elegant.

Air (~25% humidity) going in at 35C comes out at 30C - ie terrible cooling performance. Doesn't have wet straw type cooling pad - rather a chux type material formed as a wide belt that slowly moves through the water at bottom and through which the air...

Terrible

as I said above I went to bed, was about to turned off the light and "pop" the unit fused and blew the safety switch. I emptied out the water and refilled it with much less water turned it on "pop" once again it fused the power so i put it in the box...

tell me if you find one!

i biught it from big w and took it back the next day. i set it up to go to bed on a 40 degree day-went to bed, was up in five minutes resetting the safty sitch.

Terrible

This item should not be appearing under the category of air conditioners. It will help to google to see the diffrence between an air conditioner and a air cooler (which this product is). Anyone intending to buy this, please be careful. Good luck!!!

It's a sham. Beware, it's not an airconditioner and should not even be in this category. It's only an air cooler and will not dry the air like an air conditioner.

It is only an air cooler and not an aircoditioner and will not be effective on hot and humid days and certainly not effective as an air conditioner.

Its just allright for its price. Add in a compromising heater function, one can't really complain if it doesn't perform cooling like its cozy heating capacity. The unit has a massive compartment for ICE whilst a teenie compartment next to that for...

Bad

This mistral was a cheap buy, and now is cheaper at Big W, but the effect of the cooling function is decisive, If it is pointed at you then you will be cooler, but the rest of the room will be much warmer, the unit creates more heat than it cools!

Good heater, works well closeby, small unit, requires no installation, cheap!

The air conditioner unit relies on water, and that water seems to have no effect!

Excellent

Very good product, light with a small footprint and easy to store away when not in use. I have used ours extensively and still very happy with its performance.

Very cheap to buy, < $100 at Myer. Very portable with castor wheels, and the remote control. The timer is handy, esp at night time when you'd like it to cool/heat the place up just a little more before nodding off. Very light weight and easy to move...

Not many cons to speak of. The cooling function will take the edge off the heat on a very hot day, and the ability to add some ice to help it is a handy feature. It wont work as good as a proper air conditioner though.
