JVC GC-PX10 Review

The JVC GC-PX10 has some wonderful things going for it… and some serious drawbacks.

JVC has really broken some new ground with the GC-PX10 hybrid. The combination camcorder-camera takes beautiful videos and stills, but it’s hampered in low light by a small sensor. We’d love to see JVC put an APS-C sized imaging device in the next...

JVC GC-PX10

The $900 JVC GC-PX10 is marketed as a hybrid camera that is equally adept at video and still-image capture, but its ergonomics are better suited for recording video than they are for shooting standard photos.

10x zoom range. Excellent video quality. Stereo audio. External mic port. Comfortable to hold. 32GB built-in memory.

Pricey. Touch-screen-only menu system. LCD only tilts one on axis. Lens isn't suited for wide-angle shooting.

Performance, Video Quality, and Conclusions The camera is a bit slow to start up, taking a full 4.7 seconds to turn on and take a photo. It does a bit better in terms of shutter lag, taking only 0.1 second between pressing the shutter and grabbing a...

JVC GC-PX10Camcorder Review

The GC-PX10 represents JVC's latest attempt at making a true photo/video “hybrid” device, which is something the company has been toying with over the last couple of years. The camcorder looks excellent on paper, combining a 12-megapixel still image...

JVC GC-PX10

A unique and disappointingly overpriced hybrid camcorder-camera.

High-quality video capabilities

Cheap casing and unresponsive screen; No in-camera editing; Inaccurate color shooting gamut

A “true hybrid” the PX10 is not. We’d estimate you’re getting about $80 worth of camera, while the remaining $720…well…that’s for CamcorderInfo to decide.

JVC GC-PX10 Hybrid Still/Video Camcoder Review

32GB Internal memory ; Records high-speed stills ; ISO to 6400 ; Records 300fps for slow motion playback ; 36Mbps sampling rate

Design not well suited to handheld use ; Battery access a bit clumsy

If you're looking for one camera that shoots it all, including high-speed video and stills, then be sure to check out JVC's GC-PX10 hybrid.

JVC GC-PX10

JVC's GC-PX10 is a camcorder, but you'd be forgiven if you mistook it for a digital camera.

12Mpixel still images ; Full HD 50p video at 36Mbits/sec ; Extensive enthusiast features

More expensive than Full HD-capable digital cameras ; No lens ring

JVC GC-PX10

This peculiar-looking camera from JVC straddles the boundary between still camera and camcorder.

Given that the still camera market is fairly mature, and pretty much every camera worth its salt has some degree of HD video recording, we're wondering whether the PX10 has the chops to make a dent in the minds of photographers and videographers. JVC...

JVC GC-PX10 camcorder first look

HD camcorder with the ability to deliver good stills as well.

The JVC GC PX-10 looks like a still camera on steroids but performs well as a video camcorder.
