JVC GZ-MC100 First Impressions Camcorder Review - HDD

This past September, JVC announced the GZ-MC200 and GZ-MC100 as its new Everio line. Both camcorders exhibit a relative breakthrough in recording media, for consumer video anyway, and shine a proverbial flashlight into the future of convenience and...

JVC Everio GZ-MC100

The JVC Everio GZ-MC100 brings a bevy of features and options to a somewhat unique design. The image quality (both for still and moving images) wasn't...

Simple and flexible

Features may leave advanced users wanting, no microphone port

A decidedly functional camera, delivering a very solid performance across the board, although at times sacrificing performance for simplicity.

JVC Everio GZ-MC100

Go tapeless? Go on, be daring! The JVC Everio camcorder offers video enthusiasts a taste of liberation.

Very compact for features provided. Cleverly concealed compartments.

Too easy for finger to get in the way of the large lens or over the tiny sensor.

Will we banish video tapes? Perhaps not. However the Everio shows us what's possible. The camcorder is, at the very least, an interesting and glamorous addition for the enthusiast.

JVC Everio GZ-MC100

Small and compact size, easy access to physical controls, good in/out connectivity, convenience of MicroDrive recording, additional flash memory card capable (SD, MMC) good quality pictures and sound given the target market, good connectivity with...

1.8" LCD small and disappointing quality, zoom in/out is sluggish to respond, auto-exposure kicks in dramatically, mic picks up the slightest wind, momentary pause at clip end on playback is annoying, definition a bit on the low side even on highest...

Not for the serious user or those wishing to have greater control. As a point-'n-shoot handy dual-purpose cam it's ideal for many who want convenience over high quality. Well done to JVC for taking a lead in the tapeless camcorder revolution. Recommended.

JVC Everio GZ-MC100

Love the simplicity of this cute little camera. The hard drive is a total bonus.

Fits in my pocket, no fuss using the hard drive. Fantastic stills for a 2MP camera, so it's the optical that makes the difference

Low light filming isn't that great
