Image quality

Panasonic AG-DVX100A

Array of frame-rate options, including 24P; advanced image and audio settings; wonderful viewfinder and control layout; wide lens.

Limited battery life; lens is short for some applications; lacks true 16x9 chips; moderately tough learning curve; not the best in low light.

If you're looking for a MiniDV camera for pro-level videography with a film-like look, this 24P model is a top contender.

Warm, saturated colors ; Shoots at 24p ; Produces awesome filmlike look ; Wide field of view ; Wide breadth of custom image presets

Only 10¥ zoom ; Slow autoiris ; LCD color values can be sketchy ; No still-picture capabilities

Panasonic AG-DVX100 3CCD 24p Mini DV Camcorder Review

No camera in recent memory has generated as much buzz as the Panasonic AG-DVX100. This is the first consumer-priced camera to offer 24 frame per second progressively scanned video (24p), which (theoretically) makes video look like it was shot on film....

Exceptional picture quality ; Six customizable modes ; Excellent progressive video ; Flexible image tweaking

No auto focus in progressive modes

A revolutionary professional camera that allows shooters to switch between cinema-like images or standard video modes.

Once all the clips have been processed, create a new 23.98 project in Final Cut Pro and import the clips. Edit as usual.

Panasonic DVX100 Camcorder

ay back in 1995, Panasonic introduced an amazing camcorder, the miniDV-format, three-chip EZ-1. I tested it late that year and was very impressed by its image quality. I'd never seen such great-looking pictures from a camera so small. Of course, a lot...

"Normal" video in the U.S. has, until recently, meant 525 interlaced lines scanned at the rate of 30 frames a second, each frame being made up of two fields, therefore, 60 fields per second. A number of those scanning lines are used for "blanking" the...

The arrival of the Panasonic AG-DVX100 camera heralds an exciting new chapter in the indie production world. To many eyes, the 24-frame progressive format represents video technology's closest approximation of the aesthetic qualities of motion picture...
