Panasonic HDC x900 review:

Panasonic has a history of producing solid prosumer camcorders that deliver excellent video quality and performance, but have unexciting, functional designs. That tradition continues with the latest crop of models. Updates to last year's 700 series,...

Generally excellent video quality and a straightforward, if somewhat unglamorous, interface highlight the Panasonic HDC-HS900 , TM900 , and SD800 's capabilities.

Wonky white balance and lack of a built-in neutral density filter are the two biggest drawbacks of an otherwise very good series of prosumer camcorders.

Panasonic's trio of prosumer camcorders, the hard-disk-based HDC-HS900 and flash-based TM900 and SD800, deliver generally excellent video quality and provide the full set of manual controls and features advanced users want. But you have to be willing...

Panasonic HDC-SD800 Review

The Panasonic HDC-SD800 HD Camcorder is part of the new, 4-model HDC series of camcorders from Panasonic, which are the follow-ups to the successful 700 HDC models. Priced at $849.99 -- the lowest out of the four new HDC models -- the SD800 offers a...

"Great Almost Pro Camera!"

I had been waiting a long time to find a camera with high visual fidelity without all of the consumer oriented junk that comes with most home cameras, and this is it. I will go from the most annoying problems/features, and move up from there. Color...

+ 3 CMOS sensors an excellent job at color accuracy

- Lack of accurate auto color balance

I absolutely love this camera. The image quality is crystal clear and the sound is great. I use this camera for family outings etc and the quality far exceeds my expectations for this price range.

None that I can think of.

Superb image quality. Light and easy to carry.

High performance PC needed to view and process images although I assume this would apply to all similar HD camcorders. Not used enough to assess battery life properly but seems reasonable.

Panasonic HDC-SD800

The still pics are outstanding and very steady even on full zoom. On my tests I cannot differentiate between the SD800 and the zoom on my Panasonic GF1. The movie clips are seamlessly joined and split by days on my Mac downloads. I have not found the...

No bad points really. I always find this type of camera more difficult to hold than the conventional. Its a pity that it does not come with a neck strap which is essential as it is just too big for a shirt pocket.

Wonderful quality images. Great hobby cam. Great for wildlife at max zoom.Top value

I would like to store videos on DVDs, but I am still trying to find a way to do so without the need to buy a Panasonic burner that only plays back via my cancorder
