Panasonic SDR-S150 review: Panasonic SDR-S150

Panasonic SDR-S150

Very compact for a 3CCD model; optical image stabilizer.

Mediocre video and barely usable stills; poor battery life; slow focus.

While compact and convenient, Panasonic's SD-based SDR-S150 camcorder doesn't make the quality cut.

Quick Camcorder Reviews: Panasonic SDR-S150 Camcorder

Small, simple design and high-quality video, - Lots of manual controls in a small package, - SD recording media is convenient and expandable - and durable

Relatively expensive camcorder and SD cards are expensive on a per-MB basis, - No external audio options, - Handling is awkward

Panasonic SDR-S150 Camcorder Review

The Panasonic SDR-S150 is Panasonic's update on the SDR-S100, a tiny SD card-based camcorder that manages to pack in three CCDs and a whole lot of image quality. But as far as updates go, this constitutes the bare minimum: SDHC-card compatibility and a...

Panasonic SDR-S150

However, the SDR-S150 did seem to have some issues with smooth motion. If you play back the footage through a digital connection, like the USB cable, the interlace fields become readily visible, and gives a jagged appearance to moving objects. We found...

Panasonic SDR-S150

It's not high-def and it's a tad expensive, but the pocket-friendly SDR-S150 is certainly a competent SD memory camcorder.

Panasonic SDR-S150EB-S

This camera compresses video using the MPEG2 (DVD quality) standard rather than the newer, more compact MPEG4.

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Excellent compact SD camcorder!

I bought this about a month ago to replace my Sony DCR-TRV 900, which, as many of you know, was a great SD camcorder at the time, and still is a great SD camcorder. (I mean, for how many electronics product can you say that after 5+ years?) The reason...

1. Good video picture quality ; 2. Compact size ; 3. Recording medium: SD/SDHC Card ; 4. OIS ; 5. Recording format: MPEG-2 ; 6. Built-in lens cover & hood ; 7. Ergonomics ; 8. Webcam function ; 9. Shape - stands on it's "feet" well, i.e., stable ; 10....

1. Lack of external mic input (this is a bit surprising since it has a headphone output port) ; 2. 4GB is the max SD size it will accept (But this may not be a big issue since the battery life is only about 60 min anyway - 4GB records about 60 min...

Panasonic SDR S150 flash media camcorder

Outstanding size to video quality ratio. Super easy handling of video files.

Night area shots not as good as standard Cameras and Camcorders.

Consumer review (reevoo.com)

Panasonic SDR-S150EB-S

Good video and stills quality in widescreen, compact and light. Can copy from SD card directly to Panny DVD recorder for easy editing without computer

Need to rotate a switch to change between stills/video and record/playback is a bit cumbersome. Need to select slideshow from menu each time to watch stills
