Apple iPhone XR review: The best iPhone for most people

These days, lots of smartphone makers are trying to offer more for less, and Apple is no exception. Its new iPhone XR features a lot of what makes the more premium XS and XS Max special, squeezed into a glass-and-metal package that costs significantly...

A12 chipset means excellent performance ; The best battery of any iPhone we’ve tested this year ; Typically great build quality ; 6.1-inch screen hits the sweet spot ; Colors!

A higher-res display would’ve been nice ; The camera lacks some flexibility ; More expensive than comparable Android phones

While these are definitely factors to keep in mind, I don't think they're deal breakers for the audience Apple is trying to reach. For those people, who haven't upgraded their iPhones in a while or who want a taste of what Apple is capable of without...

Apple iPhone XR

The Apple iPhone XR is the fashion-forward model of this year's iPhones, but it trades top-notch performance for a colorful design.

Available in gorgeous colors. Super-fast processor. Bright screen.

Wireless performance isn't up to par with XS models.

The best argument for the iPhone XR is its looks. From the front, it's nearly indistinguishable from iPhones that cost $250 to $350 more. From the back, the colored models are simply gorgeous. The XR simply makes you look fashionable, and I don't think...

iPhone XR review: The best iPhone value in years

If you're buying a new iPhone, this should be your starting point.

The less expensive iPhone XR delivers most iPhone X and XS features, including an excellent big screen in a comfortable body, fast performance, Face ID and wireless charging, and a camera that's mostly as good as the iPhone XS.

The iPhone XR's single rear camera lacks optical zoom and has a limited portrait mode. Its LCD screen, while large, bright and vivid, is still a step below the iPhone XS' OLED in contrast. The aluminum XR is slightly less durable than the steel XS.

The iPhone XR is the best iPhone for the price, delivering most of the advantages of the iPhone XS for hundreds less.

The Apple iPhone XR Review: A Different Display Leads To Brilliant Battery Life

The latest generation of iPhones have been out for a couple of months now – we've extensively reviewed the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max shortly after their official release. Missing in the review was the lower-tiered iPhone XR – the main reason for this...

Finally, the big question is if the iPhone XR represents a good value and if it’s a viable choice for users. I think the deciding factor for most users is whether they find the design/ergonomics of the phone acceptable, as well as the display's pixel...

iPhone XR review: Compelling compromise

The most interesting iPhone of 2018 isn't Apple's most expensive, or its largest: it's the iPhone XR, cheapest of the trio of new smartphones. The new entry-level iPhone may look like the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max at first glance, but that familiar...

2018's most affordable new iPhone ; New design and Face ID ; Battery life more impressive than iPhone XS or XS Max ; Solid camera performance

Native Portrait mode only supports people ; No headphone jack or in-box 3.5mm adapter

Apple iPhone XR Smartphone Review

Great again – Apple positions the iPhone XR between the two XS models' size-wise but equips the device with a lower resolution LCD display and only a single rear-facing camera. There are a few other minor drawbacks too, but does the XR do enough to be...

bright and colour accurate display ; powerful SoC ; IP67-certified ; dual-SIM (eSIM) ; decent rear-facing camera ; wireless charging ; good mobile frequency coverage ; excellent battery life

location accuracy could be more precise ; only 12 months warranty ; non-expandable memory ; limited NFC functionality ; no fast charger included in the box ; no headphone jack

The Apple iPhone XR shares many of its components with the more expensive iPhone XS series, including the same SoC, main camera, Face ID system, dual-SIM functionality and wireless charging among other things. Apple has compromised in some areas though...

Apple iPhone XR Review

It's just one phone that tries to accommodate all iPhone users looking to upgrade this year, to something that's not so mercilessly bank-breaking like Apple's higher-tier line. This is the iPhone XR – a $750 product that promises to deliver almost...

Very large display ; Intelligent design and fresh colors ; Industry-leading performance ; Exceptional camera ; Superb speakers ; Excellent battery life

There is no compact option ; Screen resolution could be higher ; Bundled charger is SLOW

One month with the Apple iPhone XR: Long battery life, solid camera, and fun colors | ZDNet

After a month of use with the least expensive new iPhone, it is clear to me that it's likely the best new iPhone for most people, including me. It has grown on me over the month and I've been buying accessories to support its use over the long term.

Apple iPhone XR review: Lower cost comes with camera, reception compromises Review | ZDNet

Apple switched up release strategies a bit in 2018 with the two high end $1,000+ models released initially, followed by one priced $250 to $350 less. The iPhone XR arrives in six color options and honestly it may be the best option for the masses.

Excellent photo quality ; Cool color options ; Long battery life ; Loud stereo speakers ; Wireless charging support

Poor cellular reception in weak signal areas ; Portrait mode limited to people

Apple iPhone XR Review

If you’re a fan of iOS, you’ll already be aware just how expensive owning an iPhone is. With the XR, you have the opportunity to pick one up at a slightly lower price than the top-of-the-line iPhone XS will set you back.
