BlackBerry Tour 9630 Review

The Tour offers the best BlackBerry experience on the Verizon network to date.

Review: RIM Blackberry Tour 9630

A faster processor and updated OS give the Tour an edge over many other smartphones. But in practice the device is a little shaky.

Superb multimedia playback on music, video and pics. Extremely bright and colorful screen was still easy to see in direct sunlight. RIM makes it dead simple to hook up the phone to receive your e-mail, Twitter and Facebook updates

Call quality is sub-par. Some screen lag when we started using the phone, but it eventually stopped. Teeny tiny browser fonts gave us migraines

BlackBerry Tour 9630 (Sprint)

The BlackBerry Tour for Sprint is an excellent smartphone with all the right features.

Solid build. Very good call quality. Excellent keyboard. Beautiful screen. World phone.

BlackBerry Web browser still needs help. Sprint's music store should be avoided. No Wi-Fi. ; Watch the BlackBerry Tour 360 video review!

World Phone and Conclusions One other advance Sprint has made is their no-nonsense SIM unlocking policy. Unlike Verizon, which makes you jump through a few hoops, the Sprint Tour can be used with foreign SIM cards for lower international rates with no...

BlackBerry Tour 9630 (Sprint) review:

Editors' note: The RIM BlackBerry Tour 9630 for Sprint is largely similar to Verizon's version of the smartphone in terms of design and features. For this review, we highlight the different features and performance of the Sprint model. For more details...

The RIM BlackBerry Tour 9630 boasts world-roaming capabilities as well as Bluetooth, GPS, and a 3.2-megapixel camera. The smartphone features a high-resolution display and an easy-to-use QWERTY keyboard. Sprint offers a number of services for the...

The BlackBerry Tour doesn't offer Wi-Fi. You can't save downloaded applications to a memory card.

RIM BlackBerry Tour 9630 (Sprint)

The Research in Motion BlackBerry Tour ($100 with a two-year Sprint service contract) fulfills the wish of Sprint BlackBerry fans who've waited a long time for a new CDMA BlackBerry device. The Tour melds the best of the BlackBerry Bold and the...

Bright, crisp display ; Well-designed keyboard

Mediocre camera ; No Wi-Fi

The BlackBerry Tour entices with an ergonomic keyboard and gorgeous display, but the omission of Wi-Fi disappoints.

BlackBerry Tour 9630 (Verizon Wireless) review

Editors' note: The ratings have been adjusted since the original publish date to reflect newer devices that have entered the market.

The RIM BlackBerry Tour 9630 offers world-roaming capabilities as well as Bluetooth, GPS, and a 3.2-megapixel camera. The smartphone offers a great design that combines a sharp display and an easy-to-use QWERTY keyboard in a fairly compact size.

The smartphone lacks Wi-Fi. The Web browser falls short of the competition, and there's a bit of shutter lag on the camera. You can't save applications to a media card.

With a winning design and fast performance, the RIM BlackBerry Tour 9630 is one of Verizon Wireless' top smartphones for both business users and messaging fanatics.

RIM BlackBerry Tour 9630 (Verizon Wireless)

The BlackBerry Tour is the best choice for a smartphone on Verizon Wireless—even though the unit we got was a little buggy.

Excellent hardware design. Global 3G roaming. Lots of media options. Awesome messaging capabilities.

Buggy. Web browser needs a refresh.

RIM BlackBerry Tour 9630 (Sprint)

That's not saying the BlackBerry Tour isn't fun. It's as much fun as a BlackBerry gets, with excellent music and video players; it just never really lets its hair down in the interface department. That will actually come as a relief to BlackBerry...

BlackBerry Tour (Verizon Wireless) Review

The BlackBerry Tour is easily the best smart phone on Verizon Wireless, and we actually prefer it's compact design to the beefier BlackBerry Bold. We would have liked integrated Wi-Fi, and perhaps access to V Cast TV, but overall the Tour is a winner....

Attractive, sturdy design, Comfortable keyboard, Bright, sharp display, Excellent call quality, Good 3.2-MP camera

No integrated Wi-Fi, Mediocre video recording

A few weeks ago we took a look at the Verizon Tour, and both major CDMA carriers launched the device on July 12th. By and large the two devices are the same. Both software versions clock in at 4.7, the styling is nearly identical ...
