Not all software ready at launch

With the Pixel 3 and 3 XL, it doesn't feel like Google has made great leaps on hardware, nor is it making as big a splash as it did with last year's cameras. But it's definitely built a solid foundation for its software to shine on.

Taking it up a notch

Radically improved screen ; Loud, clear front-facing speakers ; Excellent camera and wide angle selfie cam

Doofy notch ; Easily scratched rear finish ; Limited availability from US carriers and internationally

But if you want the best Android experience and the best camera you can get on a phone today, the Pixel 3 is it.

Google Pixel 3 XL review: Winning the game by rewriting the rules

Whether the Google Pixel 3 XL is the best Android phone is up for debate, but it's the most advanced Pixel ever, and that's what matters.

Incredibly fast and responsive. ; AI calling features are simply mind-blowing. ; The camera takes incredible pics even with lackluster hardware. ; Display is fantastic and a massive improvement over the 2 XL.

The notch is distracting and the design is bland. ; Camera could be even better with a dual lens. ; Battery life is just OK.

Google Pixel 3 XL review: Two months in...

I've spent my time with the larger Pixel 3 XL. From its notch to its performance, how does it hold up still after two months?

The camera is the best single lens camera on a smartphone ; Timely updates ; Google's flavor of Android Pie is polished and simple with no added frivolous feartures ; Night Sight is amazing. Simply amazing.

Some may not be a fan of the large notch ; 4GB of RAM instead of the standard 6GB of RAM is an interesting choice ; Forcing people to use the new gesture system may rub some the wrong way.

Two months in and I have to say the third generation Pixel devices are nothing short of amazing. Following some software growing pains, the flagship has come into its own. With the countless holiday deals going on (currently at least $150USD off the...
