HTC One M8s boasts Android Lollipop, metal build for the midrange

This new, European-bound handset has a 5-inch screen, 13-megapixel camera and octa-core processor inside.

HTC One M8s review

The HTC One M8s is the same as the One M8, but with a new camera, updated 64-bit 8-core processor, a larger battery and Android Lollipop. It's cheaper too! If you missed out on the M8, perhaps this is the upgrade you've been waiting for.

It might seem odd for HTC to release the M8s one full year after the original M8 , and just weeks after launching the new One M9 . However, the M8s fixes the one or two issues that marred the original M8, and is a superb phone in its own right. It...

HTC One (M8s) review: Better value for money than HTC's flagship

HTC tends to the shortcomings of last year's flagship with the M8s

Aluminium body with brushed hairline finish ; Front firing and amplified stereo speakers ; High resolution cameras with DuoFocus technology ; Long lasting battery ; Relatively inexpensive

No more remote control functionality ; Design is a year old ; Improvements can still be made to the camera

HTC One M8s review

A cheap smartphone with high-quality hardware and design - too good to be true?

High-quality hardware ; Great BoomSound speakers ; Good general performance ; Sharp screen ; Nice design

Rubbish battery life ; Heats up easily ; Mediocre camera ; No IR transmitter ; Sickly screen colours

At first glance, the HTC One M8s looks like a phone twice the price, with a vibrant screen and good hardware. However, the more you use it, the more you realise the only thing premium about it is its shiny shell.

Walk into a Vodafone store and you’ll see two phones. One is the M9, a metal clad Android phone with stereo speakers and a 5-inch screen priced from $65 a month. The other is the M8s, a metal clad Android phone with stereo speakers and a 5-inch screen...

HTC One M8s review

The One M8 reborn in budget form

Fancy-feeling metal body ; Decent general performance ; Good speakers

Camera is issue-tastic ; It’s a rehash of an old phone ; Software could do with small modernisations ; Battery life is not great

It’s the HTC One M8 with some cheaper parts, but is a decent mid-range mobile

HTC One M8s review

The One M8s is, in almost every way, an identical phone to 2014's One M8 . It has the same design, it's the same size, the display is identical, it runs HTC's Sense 6 software and it has comparable power, although it now has an octa-core processor...

The HTC One M8s has a slick design, a good screen and plenty of power.

It's so similar to last year's One M8 that it's already old news. The camera is unable to balance exposure and it has inconsistent white balance.

With last year's specs, a disappointing camera and an all-too-familiar design, the HTC One M8s is neither new nor exciting, but it's a decent phone for the price.

HTC One M8s review

  (Rating Hidden)

The HTC One M8s has a seductively sleek metal body and is an alternative to the more expensive HTC One M9. We like the design and the screen is nice and clear, but does it have what it takes to be a Best Buy? Read on to find out.

HTC One M8s Review

The HTC One M8s is a confusingly positioned phone, but with plenty of style and a good screen it's sure to find an audience".

+ Stylish design ; + Good screen ; + Solid performance

- Average camera ; - Arguably overpriced ; - Can get hot

The HTC One M8s is a pretty great phone, with a good screen and great speakers, combining to make it a media powerhouse. It also has a stunning design and a reasonable amount of power.

Review: HTC One M8s (2015)

When is a flagship not a flagship? When it's apparently being slotted in just under the proper flagship. It's time to see what HTC can do with the an update to its 2014 edition One mobile phone.

Still beautifully designed, just like the HTC One M8 was in 2014; Pretty much the same phone as last year, but with a few minor changes; Uses the dual camera setup HTC let go of in its 2015 flagship; Supports the same DotView cases like the M8 did;

No infrared port; HTC’s Sense overlay is still at version 6, not 7 like its One M9 has; Camera doesn’t support 4K recording; Still kind of slippery to hold; Battery could be a little better;
