Samsung Galaxy S7 review: Time-saver edition

The Galaxy S6 was Samsung's plunge into premium materials for its flagship line, which had long since suffered ridicule for its extensive use of plastic. The Galaxy S7 is the iterative upgrade that follows, building upon the S6's foundations.

Premium design and build quality ; Superb 5.1-inch QHD AMOLED display ; Powerful chipset, great performance ; Impressive camera output both stills and video ; Very good battery life, fast charging, both wired and wireless

Samsung Mini review video: Our verdict on the Galaxy S7 in about a minute

Another year, another Galaxy S. While the new S7 isn't as dramatic a departure for Samsung as the S6 was, it benefits immensely from a year's worth of refinement. It's more powerful, not to mention even more beautiful than the S6, but Samsung hasn't...

Improved style and ergonomics ; Top-tier performance ; Beautiful screen ; It's (mostly) waterproof!

Camera can be a mixed bag ; Slightly underwhelming battery ; SIM/microSD tray is flimsy

Samsung Galaxy S7 review

Samsung's Galaxy S7 is the standard-bearer for Android phones in 2016.

The Galaxy S7 looks fantastic and is more comfortable to hold than the Galaxy S6 was last year. We’re very impressed with Samsung’s new camera, increased battery capacity, accessories, and waterproof design. Those benefits come on top of an...

Samsung Galaxy S7 review: Nailed it

We reviewed the new Samsung Galaxy S7 in London, Berlin, San Francisco and Sydney. It's the best all-around phone you can buy right now -- and one of the best phones ever made.

Polished design. Awesome camera. Long battery life. microSD storage slot and water-resistant (again!).

Annoyingly reflective. Smudge magnet. Plastic-looking selfies even with no filter. No removable battery, which isn't surprising, but is still a compromise compared to 2014's S5.

The fast, powerful, beautiful Galaxy S7 phone is 2016's all-around phone to beat.

Samsung Galaxy S7

There's nothing radically new about it, but the Samsung Galaxy S7 delivers the best Android smartphone performance in a relatively small package.

Small, for a high-end Android phone. Excellent modem and Wi-Fi performance. Super sharp, bright screen. MicroSD card slot. Waterproof build.

Not much internal storage. Camera isn't a big jump up from the S6. Carrier bloatware.

Conclusions The Samsung Galaxy S7 is a no-compromise luxury and the top of the Android lineup. It's also pretty conventional. There's nothing crazy here like the LG G5's dual cameras or modular build, just a good-looking, powerful smartphone that...

Samsung Galaxy S7 (gold platinum)

While still a very decent phone overall, the Galaxy S7 Active's inconsistent performance in the water has sapped our enthusiasm, and we can no longer recommend the phone with complete confidence. (Note that Samsung released a statement that it has...

Samsung Galaxy S7 review

The ultimate way to test a new phone? Travel with it. When you're seeing sights and losing yourself to the moment, there's no room to tolerate a poor camera or buggy software, slow speed or short battery life. If there's a flaw, you'll find it.

Samsung Galaxy S7 review: on the edge of perfection

For the S7, Samsung didn't rewrite its formula. Instead, it took what was good in the S6, refined and iterated upon it, and produced something much better.

Excellent design and build quality ; Excellent camera ; Reliable battery life ; Fast performance

New software features miss more than hit ; Too many preloaded apps ; Finish is slippery

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge Review: Part 2

With part one of our Galaxy S7 review, it was clear that the Galaxy S7 was at least a mild improvement to the Galaxy S6 in some ways, but there were still many areas to investigate. At the time, we were in the middle of transitioning to our new 2016...

The Galaxy S7 in a lot of ways represents the sort of end game for the smartphone market, but before we get into these kinds of overarching discussions I want to recap everything we’ve learned about the Galaxy S7 before we get into the conclusion in...

The Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge Review, Part 1

For some time now, Samsung has been the dominant player in the Android space, especially at the high end of the market. From the Galaxy S2 onwards, Samsung has been able to ride the wave of the smartphone industry's growth without much disruption....

Overall, I think the Galaxy S7 is looking to be one of the better devices of the year. Of course, there’s still a lot more to test, but the initial indications are already looking quite good. If you absolutely want the Galaxy S7 now, I don’t think...
