Xiaomi's Redmi Note 3 hits the right notes (review)

Xiaomi continues its run of fantastic phones with a great budget Android you'll pine for.

The Redmi Note 3 features a premium metal body, fingerprint scanner and a brilliant 5.5-inch display all at a low, low, price.

The camera, while adequate for a budget phone, tends to overexpose shots and it's a shame the phone drops the removable battery feature found on the previous model.

With its comfortable design and low price, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is a top choice for phone-buyers on a budget.

The Meizu M3 Note vs. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Review: Comparing Notes

As new technology finds its way into flagship phones, previously cutting-edge features trickle down to mid-range and eventually low-end devices. As an economic policy the efficacy of this approach is debatable; however, it works well enough when...

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Review

This review is based on a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with Snapdragon 650 SoC and 3GB of RAM, running a global software ROM with Google services pre-installed.

Large, high-resolution display ; Fast and reliable fingerprint scanner ; Good sound quality during phone calls ; Good battery life for the price ; Dual-SIM phone

Mediocre photo quality ; Software can be frustrating to deal with ; Buying one outside of Asia takes time and may be costly

There's no denying that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is a great deal in its homeland. For a phone costing the equivalent of $150 to $180, it delivers plenty of value for its money. Importing one to Europe or the U.S. makes less sense, however, and this is...

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 review: the best budget phablet in SA?

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is only R800 more expensive than the Note 2, but you get a better processor and a fast fingerprint scanner for the price.

At R3799, the Redmi Note 3 represents excellent value for money, owing to a fast processor, solid display and long battery life in general. Unfortunately, compromises will always be made at this point, namely in the form of a good but not great main...

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 review: The real flagship killer?

Xiaomi's new Redmi Note 3 shares many of the specs and features of premium flagship smartphones: 5.5-inch Full HD display, lightning fast fingerprint scanner, full-metal build, 3GB RAM, and a huge 4,000mAh battery. All this for just S$299? Sounds too...

Great design and handling ; Fast fingerprint sensor ; Smooth performance ; Long battery life

Camera performance could have been better ; Expandable by only 32GB ; MIUI 7 can be a resource hogger
