Excellent while they worked
The speakers lasted 8 months. They will not power on at all.

Creative's RMA process requires shipping the item to them at your own expense.
Excellent sound. Low price point compared to similar other-brand speakers.
The speakers lasted three months. They will power on but will not produce any sound.

My previous set, Logitech X-540, was far superior. They eventually died (op-amps, I might repair them now). This A550 leaves a bitter taste in my mouth for Creative's products Troubleshooting the unit I unplugged it from the computer and it just buzzed...
cheap
Everything else. The Bass module (main control) continually hums and pops. Speaker design doesn't allow for hanging the speakers. And not that I owe this set, I will say they are ugly. I would recommend not buying this set (or creative)

If you need some speakers for watching videos/movies or listening to music, and superb sound quality is not a concern, this is a great choice. I use them at work; my co-workers have commented that they look nice and the music is clear. I would not...
Great price. Good (not great) audio quality once you get the balancing setup properly. The bass speaker is actually a lot better than expected. I had to turn it all the way down because I immediately got complaints from the next office over. I would...
The default sound settings (or at least where it started on my system) sounded horrible. I had to play with both the Windows sound settings and the sound card settings (Realtek, built-in on the mobo) for an hour or so to make it sound even OK. I then...

Wouldn't buy this model again; Spend an extra $50 bucks off the start. Out of RMA window when they stopped powering on and not worth sending in. Any of the GigaWorks line 2.0/2.1 will sound better than this 5.1 system; they don't perform hardly at all...
- Creative products have always seemed to have above average quality/reliability in the past. - Easy setup - Nice finish
- Lots of interference from outside sources (thought I was hearing things at first). - "Surround" speaker cables are too short to do anything with. - Dead within 2 months. Wouldn't power on.

This system is okay. It is a great, inexpensive way to increase the viewing experience of a small area such as a bedroom. However, it is just annoying enough that I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending it.
It is a very nice looking system right out of the box. It is easy to set up, and has very detailed instructions for anyone who needs them. The sound is decent, but not spectacular
There are a whole lot of small issues I have with this system ; Speaker wires are not very long, requiring a small area to set up in (my bedroom was almost too large) ; The gloss finish is a fingerprint magnet ; Cords are not detachable and, therefore,...

I have been buying Creative speakers for over a decade now and decided to get these for my wife. I was disappointed the 7.1 channel set wasn't available.
Creative is a reliable brand; Good Bass; Clear sound
Length of speaker wires
