Great Product

Other Thoughts: This is a must have item in your life!

Pros: Been using it for years now and it is very convenient. It has both IDE and SATA interfaces in one and I have tested multiple drives throughout the years with no issues so far. The USB 3.0 was the main selling point, it helped me transfer my files...

Cons: USB cables are blue not black since both the unit and power adapters are black. It would've been nice if all the colors matched. Its not really a big deal, I still love it

Failed after 8 months

For a while it worked pretty well with several different 2.5 and 3.5" SATA drives

A few weeks ago it started unmounting itself intermittently. Now the adapter only shows up in the OS X device tree for a few seconds before disappearing. Different cables, USB ports, computers. No joy in Mudville, Icy Dock(y) has struck out

Poor product

This is the second unit i received because of failure to mount IDE drives and it might be going back for a refund as they are 40 bucks, IDE drives don't play well with this product so be warned now if that's your intention. Out of 10 IDE drives it...

Work with sata drives

Hit or miss with IDE. Most IDE drives wont mount

ICY DOCK MB981U3N-1SA

As a computer tech I often travel to customers locations to resolve problems. The ability to remove their harddrive and connect it to my computer can not be over stated.

Portable external connection of a harddrive to a USB port. Did I mention that it allow you to connect a(any) harddrive to another computer

Worked - for about a day

The product does what it says. I could connect to older IDE HDDs and SATA HDDs of both 2.5 and 3.5 dimensions

The product stopped working after about 4 hours of use ; Windows sees the ICY DOCK, but any drive connected to it just clicks and windows is unable to see the drives ; Does it for multiple drives, so i know its the Dock, not the drives themselves ;...
