With the Rebel T8i, the magic of the T7i has been lost. Even as it makes some enthusiast-friendly changes, it doesn't do anything to keep DSLRs relevant.
Great live-view autofocus ; 4K video is available ; AF-ON button, rear control dial ; 800-shot battery rating
4K is cropped, 24p only ; No high frame rate 1080p ; Small, dark viewfinder

The Canon EOS Rebel T8i (also known as the EOS 850D or Kiss X10i in some markets) is a 24MP DSLR aimed at first-time DSLR buyers and enthusiasts. Read our full review to find out how it performs.
At the end of the day, the Canon Rebel T8i leaves me with rather mixed emotions. On the one hand, for fans of DSLRs like myself, there are fewer and fewer choices on offer, and it does pack quite a lot into a fairly compact, lightweight package by DSLR...

The Canon EOS Rebel T8i SLR offers a few improvements over the T7i, but most family photographers are better off with a mirrorless system in 2020.

I had a few errands to run, and my wife opted to ride along. Photo ops were unforeseen, but the Rebel T8i in a toploader case was a convenient addition to the back seat.

The Canon EOS Rebel T8i is a solid entry-level DSLR that can capture 4K video.
Records 4K video ; Easy to use ; Good guides for newbies
No USB charging
All in all, the Canon T8i delivers polished and crisp imagery in a camera that is easy to use and won’t break the bank.

Can the long-awaited Canon EOS Rebel T8i DSLR fend off ever-increasing competition from mirrorless rivals?
Ease of use for novices ; Vari-angle touchscreen ; Effective Dual Pixel CMOS AF
Cropped 4K video ; No Dual Pixel AF in 4K ; Cheaper mirrorless rivals
If you're looking to step up from a camera phone to explore more creative stills photography with a 'proper' camera, the Canon EOS Rebel T8i is a lightweight yet powerful DSLR that captures detailed, colorful images. Its improvements over the T7i are...

The Canon EOS Rebel T8i / EOS 850D doesn't quite do enough to justify a higher price tag than the DSLR it replaces.
Quick, reliable autofocus Decent vari-angle touchscreen Lovely form factor Excellent battery life Good image quality
Small viewfinder display Plasticky build 4K video limitations Modest upgrade from EOS 800D
If you still prefer DSLRs to mirrorless cameras, the dinky EOS Rebel T8i / 850D is a capable camera with excellent autofocus and a vari-angle touchscreen. It also produces lovely images. But there are few reasons to to pick this camera over mirrorless...
