Fujifilm Finepix F50fd Review

As the replacement for the Fujifilm F30/F31fd, a camera that has reached an almost legendary status since its launch back in 2006, the Fujifilm F50fd has some big shoes to fill. If anything deserves to be called a 'classic' camera in the shortlived...

Like any sequel the F50fd was always going to suffer by comparison to its illustrious predecessor, so is Fujifilm's new flagship compact a

Fujifilm FinePix F50fd

Portly and plain are not the most compelling adjectives for a point-and-shoot digital camera, but the $300 Fujifilm FinePix F50fd has very high resolution, offers tons of features, and performed quite well in our tests. It may look dull, but the looks...

A top performer among pocket cameras ; Fast wireless transfers via infrared

A bit dull looking compared other models ; Comparatively heavy and chunky

Though it looks dull compared to some of the flasher models we tested, it has all the latest features and takes great shots.

Fuji FinePix F50fd

Fujifilm's 12-megapixel pocket F50fd offers advanced automatic features and excellent face-detection technology.

Nice ergonomics and control layout. High-quality LCD. Market-leading face-detection technology. Both automatic and priority exposure modes. Useful continuous-shooting modes and low-light settings.

Unremarkable 3X zoom lens. No built-in exposure enhancement processing to bring out shadow detail.

Fujifilm FinePix F50fd review

Ever since Fuji introduced the FinePix F10 , the company's double-digit-named F-series has been all about low noise at higher ISOs. Over the years, though, Fuji has developed the line into the very compact, classy-looking FinePix F50fd under review...

This camera has aperture- and shutter-priority exposure controls, sensor-shift image stabilization, a nice slim design, and face detection that outperforms the versions offered by most of the competition.

The camera is sluggish between shots, shows minor noise even at its lowest ISO, and doesn't include a full-manual exposure mode.

The Fujifilm FinePix F50fd should please most snapshooters and its above-average exposure controls should appeal to advanced photographers, too.

Fujifilm FinePix F50fd Digital Camera - Review - The Imaging Resource!

Fujifilm's FinePix F50fd is likely to come across vastly different to general consumers versus industry insiders. Those immersed in the industry might question the jump in resolution up to 12 megapixels, viewing the F50fd as essentially a digression...

Fujifilm FinePix F50fd Compact Digital Camera

The Fujifilm FinePix F50fd is a camera that has some big shoes to fill. The success of its predecessor, the Fujifilm F31fd, has in a sense put a lot of pressure on the F50fd to exceed the standard set by the F31fd a year ago. Check out this review to...

Overall, it's easy to see that Fujifilm may have taken a step backwards in terms of ISO performance, but they still seem to be among the leaders in this department with the F50fd. This camera has solid performance numbers in most respects, and it...
