Dialed In

Most mirrorless cameras are happy being smaller, beginner-friendly, somewhat less-capable alternatives to DSLRs. But the Fujifilm X-T1 has a different goal in mind: It's built to replace a DSLR camera entirely. Indeed, it's hard to think of a camera...

Great image quality with natural colors and skin tones. Weatherproof body with quick access to practically every setting. Excellent eye-level viewfinder and manual-focus helpers. Fast autofocus and peppy continuous-shooting mode. In-camera...

Battery life is only OK. No built-in flash (but it does come with a little detachable one). Steep learning curve for novices. Expensive for its sensor size

Fujifilm X-T1

The Fujifilm X-T1 is a terrific mirrorless camera, and the best one you'll find in the X system.

Excellent image quality at every ISO. 8.3fps continuous shooting. Snappy autofocus. Time lapse feature. Weather-sealed body. Lots of physical controls. Best-in-class EVF. Great manual focus aids. Hinged rear display. Wi-Fi. 1080p60 video capture.

A little slow to start up. No built-in flash. Geotagging could be better implemented. On the pricey side.

Rear controls include standard playback and delete buttons, separate controls for Autoexposure Lock and Autofocus Lock, a Focus Assist button, the Q button, and four additional programmable Fn controls arranged as up/down/left/right buttons surrounding...

Fujifilm X-T1: The company's best ILC to date

With a great viewfinder, speedy burst and excellent photo quality, the camera really impresses. But there are some irksome quirks.

The stunning viewfinder, comfy grip and plethora of direct controls makes the ; a joy to shoot with, plus the image quality is great and the continuous-shooting is among the best in its class.

Some of the controls are too hard to manipulate, its general performance doesn't stand out, and the movie quality disappoints.

The Fujifilm X-T1 is a great camera for advanced photographers as long as its quirks don't bother you.

Fujifilm X-T1 Body Only, Black

The X-T1 delivers excellent photo quality. While the innards are similar to the X-E2, there are some differences. New, lower-noise circuitry has allowed Fujifilm to bump the maximum sensitivity to ISO 51200 up from ISO 25600. However, I really didn't...

Analogue dials and switches provide engaging shooting experience, Superb, huge high resolution electronic viewfinder gives generally-accurate preview of image, Excellent image quality at both Low and High ISOs, Very attractive JPEG colour rendition,...

Rear buttons are small, and almost flush to camera body, Four-way controller is rather 'spongey' in feel, Awkwardly positioned, locking ISO dial is inconvenient (especially with large lenses), Raw files not recorded when ISO dial set to 'L', 'H1' and...
