Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro reviewed

Digitalcamerainfo.com had a look at the Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro, the 12.3 megapixel DSLR touted for an extended dynamic range that aims to rival the tonal range of 35mm film. They found the unit does indeed impress in its 9-stop expanded dynamic range,...

Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro

Some professional portrait photographers may enjoy the quality, but it's too expensive to have such a slow burst rate.

Excellent picture quality. Wide dynamic range. Lots of control over settings.

Slow burst mode. Menus and displays on LCD are a little confusing. Very expensive.

Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro Review

The S3 Pro was first announced on 5th February 2004, in the run up to the PMA show in Las Vegas. At that time the announcement was strictly the 'development of' type with very brief specifications and an expected completion date of 'second half of...

Good resolution, better than the average six megapixel Good color and tonal balance, vibrant 'pleasing' color response, can be toned down Unique extended dynamic range SuperCCD, although crippled by in-camera algorithms Low noise throughout the...

Almost $1,000 more than the competition SuperCCD artifacts still visible, more so at the 12 mp size (which delivers the best res) Disappointing continuous shooting capability, especially in wide dyn. range mode Crippled extended dynamic range feature,...

There's plenty to like about the S3 Pro, there's a new body design which is comfortable, includes a portrait grip and feels robust. There's the image quality, resolution which for a six megapixel is really fairly impressive (if you can ignore some of...

Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro review

The Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro was already announced in February 2004, right before the PMA in Las Vegas kicked off. However it took until September before the Fujifilm S3 Pro was actually finished. So finally during the last Photokina show the FinePix S3...

Compared with the FinePix S2 Pro Fujifilm improved an awful lot and added some useful functions to the S3 Pro. It is obvious right away that the Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro is a camera for the professional photographer. Speed is not the strongest side of...

Fuji FinePix S3 Pro Digital Camera Review: Intro and Highlights

Fuji has long been a player in the digital camera arena, creating a broad line of popular consumer-level models over the last couple of years. From the email I receive, it's apparent that they've been very successful in doing so, as I consistently note...

Exceptional (!) dynamic range, thanks to "SR" sensor technology, Ability to select dynamic range in-camera, Extensive control over dynamic range and tonality via RAW-file conversion software, Excellent color accuracy, Better resolution than typical 6...

Adobe Photoshop/Camera Raw 2 is needed to take full advantage of the extraordinary dynamic range. (It's still excellent, straight from the camera though.), Sluggish shot to shot cycle times by current standards, Mediocre battery life when compared to...
