Fujifilm XQ1

The Fujifilm XQ1 takes the X-Trans image sensor from the excellent X20 and puts it in a body that's sized like the XF1. The result is impressively compact and is capable of capturing great photos.

Sharp f/1.8 lens. X-Trans image sensor. Good high ISO image quality. 1080p60 video. Speedy. Sharp rear display. Wi-Fi. Sleek design.

Limited zoom range. Aperture narrows to f/4.9 at maximum telephoto. No hot shoe or EVF option. Pricey. External charger not included.

Wi-Fi is built into the XQ1. At this point, it's an expected feature, especially for a $500 camera. Fujifilm's implementation is pretty basic. You can transfer JPG images to your iOS or Android device using the free Fujifilm Camera App. The app...

Fujifilm XQ1 First Impressions Review

The 'enthusiast compact' sector has rather exploded in recent years, with every major manufacturer now offering models which offer photographer-friendly manual controls and Raw format recording. In general these cameras fall into two distinct types -...

It's difficult to talk about the XQ1 without referencing the 'shirt pocket' enthusiast compacts it so closely resembles, most notably the Canon S-series PowerShots and the Sony RX100. There are plenty of other interesting cameras in this sector too,...

Fujifilm XQ1: the enthusiast compact camera the XF1 wanted to be?

Equipped with the latest X-Trans sensor, the XQ1 is priced for folks who want better-than-snapshot photo quality but won't miss a viewfinder.

Fujifilm XQ1 Review

The Fujifilm XQ1 is an advanced compact camera that offers a 12 megapixel 2/3-type X-Trans CMOS II sensor with built-in Phase Detection pixels and no low-pass filter, a 4x, 25-100mm, f/1.8-4.9 zoom lens with optical image stabilisation and a control...

The new XQ1 is clearly designed to take on the all-conquering Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 (our Compact Camera of the Year in 2012) and the popular Canon PowerShot S-series. It essentially offers image quality somewhere between the two at a very...

Fujifilm XQ1 Review

The high-end pocket camera market continues to heat up with Fujifilm's latest X-Series camera -- the Fuji XQ1. This ultra-portable, high-end compact digital camera is one of Fuji's smallest X-Series cameras, with a design that looks like the merging of...

Pricing, availability and accessories. The Fujifilm XQ1 is set to round out Fuji's premium compact X-series lineup and will not be replacing the XF1 or the X20, residing somewhere in the middle. Introduced alongside the camera is a set of accessories...

Fuji XQ1

Fuji XF1. Both these are small, barely larger than a typical ultra-compact digital camera.

Ultra-Bright F/1.8 Ultra-Wide Optical Zoom, Very low image noise, Good dynamic-range, Excellent resistance to chromatic aberrations, Excellent center-sharpness, Reliable metering, Very quick and accurate autofocus

Below average auto white-balance, Strong edge-softness, Some optical distortion, Does not wait for autofocus to lock, 2s Filming delay, Very short battery-life, Poor tripod mount placement

The Fuji XQ1 packs an excellent 12 megapixels X-Trans CMOS II sensor in a conventional premium compact digital camera design. Its dual control-dials, traditional mode-dial and complete manual-controls, make it one capable yet pocketable camera. The...

Fuji XQ1 review

Fuji's X20 sensor in a tiny body

Lovely solid build ; Super-fast power up and shot-to-shot times ; Good colours and colour controls ; Good resolution mid aperture range

F/1.8 is rarely available ; Quite noisy images ; Limited dynamic range ; Lens ring moves too easily

A fun camera, but we can't help feel it fails to live up to its promises, and with the falling cost of models such as the Canon Powershot G16/G15 and GX1 and the Panasonic Lumx DMC-LX-7, it might find standing against the competition rather difficult.
