Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D review

Luminous Landscape has a review of the Maxxum 7D, Konica Minolta's new 6.1 megapixel prosumer digital SLR which has  a contoured grip and design that allows for ergonomic handling, a big 2.5-inch LCD for viewing, and fits most Minolta SLR...

Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D Digital SLR Camera Kit Camera

Although many of the digital SLRs that we tested have a plentiful supply of buttons, the Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D has the most: 24 dials and buttons spread around the camera. But this approach has a big upside: It makes the controls much easier to get...

A good selection of lenses is available for the camera. However, the range is not as wide as what's available for Canon or Nikon cameras (or for the Fujifilm Finepix S2 Pro, which uses Nikon lenses). The $1590 kit we looked at included a 28mm to 100mm...

Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D review

Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D

Unique Anti-Shake system works with all lenses; efficient, innovative control layout; big 2.5-inch LCD; highly competent AF system.

Slow start-up; limited to one JPEG compression ratio in raw-plus-JPEG; no way to avoid noise reduction processing in high ISO images.

The well-designed Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D is a good all-around performer and a no-brainer for owners of Maxxum AF lenses.

Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D

The Maxxum 7D is a very well-built, intelligently designed camera with excellent handling characteristics and antishake technology.

Extensive, intelligently placed analog controls. Big, bright LCD. Antishake technology works with any lens. Very clean images.

Small buffer limits the number of shots in a single burst. Our daylight shot was underexposed. Built-in flash was inconsistent. More expensive than the competition.

Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D (Alpha-7 Digital / Dynax 7D)

The Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D (Dynax 7D in Europe) was first revealed to the general public on 12th February 2004 at the PMA tradeshow, at that time we were able to produce a hands-on preview of a pre-production camera. Finally on 15th September 2004...

Good resolution, as good as the best six megapixel digital SLR's; Vibrant color response, fairly contrasty images (although not over the top); Low noise at higher sensitivities, although at the expense of detail and sharpness; Unique Anti-Shake system...

Some color clipping with the sRGB Natural+ color mode; Slower-than-the-competition startup time (2.6 sec before you can take a shot); No automatic rotation of images in play mode (despite recording of orientation); Long exposure NR limited to 30...

In use the 7D proved to be an excellent 'photographic tool', it feels good to hold, it's easy to change settings (thanks to the fact that almost all the major settings have external buttons / levers) and the camera feels responsive in use.

Minolta DiMAGE 7 Review

We first heard of the two new Minolta DiMAGE 5 and 7 digital cameras at PMA on 11th February this year (although there had been leaked information earlier). Both cameras are based on the same functionality, body and 7x optical zoom lens, the DiMAGE 5...

Detailed images deliver good resolution Once converted to sRGB colour space images show excellent, vivid colour Big 7x optical zoom provides a lot of flexibility, especially useful 28 mm wide angle Lens is good quality, very little chromatics, little...

Sometimes slow AF can frustrate Very power hungry, requires multiple sets of spare batteries Camera can get hot around hand grip (CF compartment area) Burst frame rate (1.2 fps) a bit of a disappointment Image noise levels about the same as 3 megapixel...
