After 3 long years Olympus overhauls its midrange interchangeable-lens camera with significantly better movie-recording features and performance improvements.

Olympus delivers a vintage-styled, power-packed digital OM camera for the 21st century.
Compact, relatively light magnesium body. Both the body and the 12-50mm kit lens are weather-sealed. Fun, creative art filters for in-camera experimentation. A wide array of available lenses. Super-comfortable and almost-indispensable grip attachment
No built-in pop-up flash. Can’t change exposure settings while shooting video. Shallow eye cup diminishes the EVF’s effectiveness in bright outdoor situations

Micro Four Thirds cameras are coming fast and furious, and getting better and more technically impressive all the time. For its latest offering, however, Olympus looked backward for inspiration...
Excellent image and video quality ; Blistering performance ; Extremely attractive
Expensive for a Micro Four Thirds camera ; Smaller sensor than most $1,000-plus cameras
What's not to like?

With the launch of the E-M5, Olympus harks back to one of its most fondly-remembered camera systems - the Olympus OM range of 35mm SLRs. The E-M5 is the first camera in an OM-Digital lineup that will run alongside the PEN series and, according to the...
Very good image quality, even at high ISO ; Bright, punchy JPEGs make the most of camera's capability ; Very fast autofocus with most Micro Four Thirds lenses ; Weather-sealed body ; Built-in image stabilization helps increase number of sharp shots ;...
Focus tracking distinctly unreliable ; Small controls sometimes awkward (especially with cold/gloved hands) ; No in-camera correction of CA (which can be problematic with 12-50mm kit zoom) ; Default JPEG settings a bit keen to blur detail away ;...
The Olympus OM-D E-M5 is certainly the most capable Micro Four Thirds camera we've reviewed and arguably the most likeable mirrorless model yet. It falls down a little bit on its continuous focusing but we have no absolutely no complaints about the...

The best Micro Four Thirds camera we've tested, the Olympus OM-D E-M5 has a top-notch stabilization system, is fully weather sealed, and ships with a sharp and versatile kit lens. Add it all up, and you have our new Editors' Choice for high-end compact...
Compact body. Fully weather sealed. Crisp LCD EVF. Articulating rear display. Sharp kit lens. Impressive high ISO performance. Fast autofocus. Shoots at 9 frames per second. In-body stabilization. Large native lens library. Optional grip available.
External flash. Lacks a standard mic input.
The E-M5's body is fully weather sealed, and if you opt to buy the kit we reviewed, which includes the sealed M.Zuiko 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 ED lens ($499.99 if purchased separately), you've got a camera that you can take outdoors in almost any type of...

The OM returns with Olympus' first OM-D model; the E-M5. This sophisticated EVIL (Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens) camera is loaded with various features that we've come to love about their Digital PEN cameras. It utilizes the same Micro...

nbsp; A small and lightweight camera with a grown-up feature set, delivering professional results – that's the holy grail of digital photography. With the OM-D E-M5, Olympus aims to get close: the camera, touted as “groundbreaking” and “revolutionary,”...
If the OM-D E-M5 were a couple of hundred dollars or euros cheaper I would not hesitate to recommend it as a great all-round camera and masterful feat of digital-image engineering. As it is, potential buyers will have to answer for themselves if the...

With the Olympus OM-D E-M5 you've got the manufacturer taking what was great about the original OM line of SLR units with a collection of fabulous add-ons that work perfectly well in the digital world. In this 4.8 x 3.5 x 1.69-inch beast that weighs in...
With such knock-out features like 5-axis stabilization in such a tiny body as this, you’ve got one heck of a mobile-minded shooter on your hands. This device is great for those of you out there looking to amp up your game with your old OM, and with...

What follows is a quick overview of the video capabilities of the Olympus OM-D E-M5. Read our comprehensive analysis and testing results in greater detail at DigitalCameraInfo.com.
We took some gorgeous videos with the Olympus E-M5, and we found the camera was able to capture sharp, crisp details even in low light situations. The camera struggled in extreme low light, however, which may be a direct result of Olympus capping the...

The E-M5 is the new flagship Micro Four Thirds compact system camera from Olympus. The first in a brand new range of cameras dubbed OM-D, the E-M5 is a classically styled 16.1 megapixel model that offers the world's fastest auto-focus system and the...
