Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX48

The very compact Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX48 is a breeze to use, but its image quality falls short, especially under bright light.

Compact design. Wide-angle lens with 5X zoom. Captures HD video. Easy-to-use interface.

Expensive. Some pictures can look soft. LCD shows considerable amounts of motion blur. Noticeable shutter lag.

Panasonic DMC-FX48 Review

MIAMI, FL (January 27, 2009) - Panasonic today expanded its popular LUMIX FX digital cameras series with the introduction of the 12.1-megapixel DMC-FX48, which features a 25mm ultra-wide-angle LEICA DC lens and a powerful 5x optical zoom (equivalent to...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX40 Review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX40 (also known as the DMC-FX48) is a small and light compact camera aimed firmly at the point-and-shoot user. At first glance the FX40 is rather unassuming, with a standard 2.5 inch LCD screen and rather understated styling,...

If you want a compact camera that will allow you to merely point and shoot and, under most conditions, achieve results that won't need adjustment afterwards, then the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX40 fits the bill as a neat and not unstylish solution to slip...

Panasonic Lumix TS3

About as tough as they come, and it's a solid performer too—just not as solid as its rivals

Panasonic has had a few years of experience in the tough-cam market. The TS1 was tough for the sake of being tough, almost like a test run for Panasonic to prove to themselves that they could put a decent adventure camera together. The TS2 actually...

Review: Panasonic Lumix FX75

Panasonic aims for a high quality but still simple compact camera.

Bright lens, fast autofocus ; Better than average in low light ; Overall good image quality ; Reasonably bright flash ; Good (though not great) 720p video ; 5X zoom ; Simple touchscreen UI; tap to shoot option

Still compact-like in the darkest scenes ; Not as fast as it could be for action ; Low-resolution LCD ; No viewfinder ; Price may be in hard to defend middle ground

Design, controls and expansionThe FX75 is handsomely finished with a metal and polycarbonate casing that features just enough trim to nicely contrast with the overall “blackness” of the body. The image-stabilized, Leica DC Vario-Summicron 4.3-21.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX48 Review

After being favorably impressed with the FX35 some 16 months ago, I was ready for another "gee whiz" moment from the FX48. Sure, there was David Rasnake's review of the FX37 here last March that faulted the camera for largely maintaining the status...

Compact and light, Good build quality, Good shutter response, Good overall lens performance

Default still image quality not sharp enough, Vivid color setting (to sharpen images) not available in Intelligent Auto mode

Panasonic Lumix TZ5

The Panasonic Lumix TZ5 is their latest compact ultra-zoom camera, successor to last year's very hot Lumix TZ3, and carries forward the very versatile 28-280 mm 10X zoom lens in a compact form factor for a big zoom camera. What's new? The main...

Fairly compact with a 10X zoom lens; starts at a versatile 28 mm ; Optical image stabilization ; Camera performance is snappy ; Large and very nice (sharp and visible) 3 inch LCD ; Many scene modes, along with those Intelligent features (ie...

Not many manual controls (certainly no manual exposure here) ; Lacks post-shot red eye removal and movie editing features ; Low light autofocus could be faster ; Plastic tripod mount and plastic doors on the camera ; Some very fine details (ie fabric...

The Panasonic Lumix TZ5 is a relatively compact camera for a super-zoom. It has a useful 10X optical zoom lens which starts at 28 mm and it comes with optical image stabilization. While there's a nice lens in front, there's a fancy LCD on the back too....
