Panasonic Lumix review

Panasonic took a "why mess with a good thing" approach when it came time to update its 2011 top-of-the-line rugged model, the Lumix DMC-TS3 .

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 is an easy-to-use rugged point-and-shoot with some extra exposure control that you won't find on others in its class.

The TS4's photo quality and performance don't improve much from its predecessor, the TS3. It has a somewhat small, low-resolution LCD compared with competing models.

While it doesn't offer much for upgraders, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 is still a very good rugged camera.

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TS4 Preview

Replacing 2011's well reviewed TS3, Panasonic has just announced its top-of-the-line "Lifeproof" camera; the LUMIX DMC-TS4. On the surface, this new model looks an awful lot like its predecessor. It's got a 12.1 megapixel CCD sensor capable of 1080/60i...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT4 Review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT4 (also known as the DMC-TS4) is a waterproof, shockproof and dustproof digital camera. The FT4 can be used underwater to a depth of up to 12 meters and is drop proof from a height up to 2m, freezeproof to -10 degrees C and...

Though there is quite a lot going on here for your average snapshot camera - including GPS, Full HD video, HDMI output and 3D snapping - there is much that is familiar from the largely identical FT3. And while that doesn’t make the Panasonic Lumix...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4

Offering an excellent set of features in a terrific body design, the Panasonic TS4 is great for snapshots in wet, wild conditions, but it falls short for other uses, thanks to diminishing image quality as you zoom from wide-angle.

Goes deeper than most cameras; Built-in GPS, altimeter, and barometer; Full HD video capability; Good battery life

Won't serve as an "everywhere" camera; Lens soft at all but wide-angle setting; Button icons hard to read; Disappointing print quality

For all-weather play snapshots, I can easily recommend the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4. It takes a beating and turns out good photographs and decent videos. If you're looking for an excellent everywhere, daily-carry camera, though, the TS4's image quality...

Panasonic Lumix TS4

Our first ruggedized camera review of the year goes to the Panasonic Lumix TS4, a slight upgrade over the TS3.

The TS4 is better than the TS3 only by a little bit, but that may just be enough.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT4

Upgrading 2011's toughened Lumix DMC-FT3 from Panasonic comes the inevitable FT4 incarnation, boasting reinforced glass and rubber padding. Once again the headline stills resolution is 12.1 megapixels and GPS geotagging of images features, thereby...

Rugged build, rammed full of the latest must-have features, reasonably easy to use, built in GPS, 3D mode, Full HD clips

Priced at a premium, largely identical to predecessor, pictures of snapshot quality despite high-ish price tag, operational buttons too small and fiddly to be operated with gloves on or with wet fingers

Rarely has an upgrade seemed as if merely the model number has changed while everything else has stayed the same, so owners of the FT3 needn’t feel a need to rush for this “upgrade”. But where does it sit in the current market? Well, recent rivals to...
