Pentax K2000

Priced affordably at $450 including an 18-55mm kit lens, $600 with 18-55mm and 50-200mm kit lenses, or $680 in a limited-edition white body with an 18-55mm kit lens (all as of 8/26/09), the 10.2-megapixel Pentax K2000 may tempt quite a few people to...

The K2000 is a beginner-friendly DSLR with body-based stabilization, but autofocus speed and controls are drawbacks.

Pentax K2000 review: Pentax K2000

Pentax K2000

Very fast autofocus; relatively nice viewfinder; wireless flash and in-body image stabilization.

No Live View mode; poor default JPEG image settings.

Speedy performance lifts the Pentax K2000 above the cheap-dSLR masses, but bad default settings make it an iffy choice for newbies.

Pentax K-m Review

The Pentax K-m is outwardly very similar to its big brother, the K200D, with a couple of significant changes. When you pick the K-m up for the first time and attach the supplied 18-55mm kit lens, this DSLR actually feels quite impressive, despite its...

Review: Pentax K2000 digital SLR camera

Priced affordably, Pentax's 10.2-megapixel K2000 may tempt quite a few people to jump into the digital SLR pool.

That’s especially true if you have a collection of Pentax lenses, as this camera accepts any lens from the Pentax line (keep in mind, though, that you may have to focus legacy lenses manually). Pentax has also retained in-body image stabilization, so...

The K2000's ergonomics are similarly comfortable to those of the K100D. It's a small camera that fits my medium-sized paws; photographers with smaller hands, such as my wife Mary, felt comfortable using it, too. I couldn't find any cold weather...
