The Samsung NX500 is the baby brother to the company's superb NX1 mirrorless camera. It brings over many of the features of the NX1, including its 28MP BSI CMOS sensor and AF system, and puts them into a compact body at a price competitive with other...
Samsung has made waves in the camera market in the past year. It gained a lot of credibility with the release of its flagship

Ready for action with great video, the Samsung NX500 is a nice choice for families and travelers.
Attractive and well designed, the NX500 delivers great photo and video quality.
A shallow manual may leave you scratching your head when it comes to connectivity and video playback.
The Samsung NX500 offers a lot of useful features, excellent video quality, and action-friendly performance that makes it a nice choice for families and travelers.

The Samsung NX500 is a solid mirrorless camera with 4K recording capabilities, but it requires you to take some extra steps to edit video.

The Samsung NX500 is a compact ILC that is easy to use and provides great image quality. WiFi, great shooting modes and 4K video give you all the greatest features and options available. Coming in under $800 for the kit, it is a great option for you...
Auto and Program modes are very accurate ; Outstanding overall image quality ; Always ready to record video with one touch ; Fantastic shooting performance ; Dual command dials for total control over settings ; NX mount features a great lens selection...
Mediocre battery life ; Lacks a viewfinder that would complete the dSLR feel ; External flash can be forgotten or left behind ; Does not include external battery charger ; Trouble playing movies on a computer without Samsung Software

Is a bigger camera necessarily better? Or, put a different way, does a big sensor need to have a big body wrapped around it? Samsung would argue no, and the NX500 is its evidence. Distilling much of the NX1 into a form-factor only slightly larger than...

The release of the NX500 is Samsung's statement that it too can create a quality midrange compact camera to run with the best Canon and Nikon have to offer . The NX500 keeps a majority of the features of the flagship Samsung NX1, but packs them into a...
If you approach the NX500 as a midrange mirrorless camera, it is among the best in its class. However, when comparing it to the flagship NX1 its limitations quickly become noticeable. For the photographer looking for an ultra portable stills shooter,...

The Samsung NX500 is an affordable new 28 megapixel compact system camera that offers 4k video recording. The rangefinder-like NX500 features a 28.2 megapixel APS-C BSI CMOS sensor with no optical low-pass filter, both 4K and UHD video recording,...
The new Samsung NX500 is by far the cheapest interchangeable lens camera to offer 4K video recording, coming in at less than half the price of the flagship NX1 whilst cramming in most of that camera's features into the design of the more compact...

The Samsung NX500 is a fun, great little camera with lots of the same horsepower and technology from the larger NX1. The high-res 28MP sensor and fast processor allow for very good, high-resolution images, good high ISO performance and crisp 4K video.
Very good image quality with high-resolution files; Excellent high ISO performance with RAW files; Very good dynamic range; Fast AF performance; Compact design with good build quality; Better ergonomics than predecessor; 4K video recording.
High ISO noise reduction too strong; AF struggles in low-light; Buffer depth is shallow with RAW files; No option for EVF; No built-in flash (external one included); 4K Video is cropped with narrower FOV.

The NX500 is a lovely camera in many ways. The slim, curvy design makes it not only attractive, but also easy to hold. The flip-up OLED touch screen is beautiful for setting up and showing off photos. Controls, especially the on-screen menus, are far...
Stylish, ergonomic design ; Gorgeous flip-up OLED touch screen ; Intuitive, smartphone-like controls and menus ; True-color reproduction, Ultra-HD and 4K video capability.
Weak dynamic range obscures detail in shadow areas ; Autofocus less consistent than rival Sony a6000's ; No built-in flash, and included external unit adds bulk ; Videos in H.265 format require transcoding to view or edit.
Samsung's new mainstream mirrorless camera has a handsome design and takes good-looking photos, but doesn't beat the rival Sony a6000.
