Sony A300 Review

The Sony A300 is one of four digital single-lens reflex cameras released by Sony in the course of 2008. The Sony A300 sits at the lower end of the range, above the entry-level A200, and below the very similar A350, more expensive prosumer A700 and the...

At the end of the day, the Sony A300 deserves to be highly recommended by us to anyone except those who consider a big optical viewfinder a must have on an SLR

Sony Alpha A300

10.2-megapixel D-SLR with the works.

Best Live View implementation on the market, good image quality, sensor-based stabilisation, intuitive interface

Images come out somewhat soft with default lens, resolution a little lower than some of the competition

While some competing units may be better for more advanced users, Sony's Alpha A300 is a compelling option for first-time SLR buyers with its combination of image quality, features and an intuitive menu.

Sony's A3000 mirrorless/dSLR mashup delivers mixed results

While it provides excellent photo quality for its low price, the rest is pretty uninspiring.

With an attractive $400 (or less) price, the ; delivers excellent photo quality for the money.

It's slow, with a poor LCD and only slightly better EVF. Plus Sony doesn't include a charger, which may be an issue for some folks.

If you're just looking for better photo quality than a point-and-shoot on a really tight budget, but not better performance, the Sony Alpha A3000 meets that criterion.
