Sony Cyber-shot DSC N1

The DSC-N1 is very good camera, but at $500, it is a little pricey.

Very good picture quality. Awesome 3-inch touch-screen LCD. Clever slide-show modes, with music.

Menus could be more organized. Clumsy stylus. Expensive, even for an ultracompact.

Sony Cyber Shot DSC-N1 review

Sony Cyber Shot DSC-N1

Three-inch touch-screen LCD; generally responsive performance; photo-album capabilities; point-and-select autofocus; decent high-ISO shooting.

All-menus-all-the-time touch-screen operation; no optical viewfinder; some purple fringing; lack of image details.

This camera isn't for everybody, but its huge touch-screen LCD and photo-album display will certainly catch the eyes of those who want something a little out of the ordinary.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-N1

Other features on the N1 include an 8.1 Megapixel CCD, 3X optical zoom lens, limited manual controls, VGA movie mode, and an AF-assist lamp

Very good photo quality ; Stylish, compact metal body ; Enormous LCD display (though see issue below) ; Impressive high ISO performance for a compact camera ; Snappy performance in most areas ; Some manual controls ; AF-assist lamp; good low light...

Redeye ; Custom white balance is badly needed ; Big LCD attracts fingerprints ; Sluggish burst mode; LCD blacks out between shots ; No optical viewfinder ; Flimsy cover over memory card / battery compartment ; Bundled software isn't the greatest, no...

About the only other complaints I have about the N1 are the lack of an optical viewfinder and photo editing software for the Mac. Yeah, there aren't too many negatives to come up with here! If you're after a stylish and compact camera with a BIG LCD,...

Camera Test: Sony Cyber-Shot DSC N1

Packing 8.1 megapixels and a Carl Zeiss 3x Vario-Tessar 2.8-5.4/7.9-33.7 zoom lens (38mm-114mm equivalent), the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-N1 puts a serious face forward. This solidly constructed brushed silver camera looks like a major player in the 8MP...

Touch screens are cool, robust functionality, big screen

Poor image quality, poor battery life, screen is of low viewing quality

A pricey camera that offers never before seen technology, but ultimately unless you are a touch screen fanatic, it isn't worth the price tag.

Sony Cybershot DSC-N1 review

Can the heavyweight pixel count justify the hefty price tag?

Can shoot images up to 3,264 x 2,448 pixels

The LCD screen eats up battery life

A great camera for beginners but perhaps not for the more experienced
