Digital Photo Album: Mvix can display a slideshow of digital photo files and display them to TV or projector. Store JPEG photos directly from a PC through the USB interface and enjoy a slide show for your family and friends.
Small, very good looking ; Very easy to use ; Full function remote control ; Fast ; Upgradeable through firmware somewhat ; Hackable ; Quiet, active cooling system

Being this is the base model Media Center from Mvix, there is really nothing bad I can say about it, for what it is it is a great little product that does exactly what it is supposed to do. Sure I could say it doesn't have networking or wireless...

Product: Mvix MV-4000u DivX Multimedia Player Price: $199 Rating: 8.5/10 Pros: Simple design, easy to use, plays a lot of media formats and includes plenty of output ports Cons: No hard drive, does not include media encoding software and manual does...

Despite a clunky menu, the undeniably sexy Mvix MV-4000U delivers fantastic audio and video performance and convenience at a reasonable price.
Small media player- Or giant hands- I used to watch movies directly from my PC hooked into my Sanyo projector. But my video card and sound card weren't the best so I wasn't getting true widescreen anamorphic video output (just zoomed letterbox), and I...

The MviX MV-500U multimedia player is an all in one entertaiment device that plays music, photos as well as movies on a television. It allows high definition component output as well as standard RCA and S-Video. Upon receiving the Mvix multimedia...

Large selection of media playback formats, many types of outputs, compact, video upscaling, silent and super easy to setup.
No HDD included and no network connectivity but for the price there is really no reason to complain.

As long as you are not looking for Hi-Def playback this box does a fantastic job with divx and dvd files.
I've had this unit for over 6 months and play mainly DIVX avi. files on it. It won't play anything higher than DVD resolution but the upconversion to 1080i on my 42" HDTV looks very very good. Artifacting from the original files is still visible but...
Came with the manual in Japanese only. I downloaded the English version from their website

Fix of issue should be high priority for MVIX.
When it works, it is great (see my earlier review). Worked fine with a Seagate 320 HD
I have run into the same problem as BF with a 500GB WD Caviar HD. Works fine when connected via USB. Searches HD forever when connected as video source, only responds to the case-mounted on/off switch. Can't even upgrade firmware in this state (if the...

The reviewer "russ" obviously has no clue what he is talking about. That review should be removed since he was looking for an HD device. That being said.... I bought this primarily for my conversion van so my kids could watch movies and it only had a...
People build HTPC's to do what this does. As the phrase goes "a fool and their money" Works better then I had expected
Doesn't come pre-installed in my conversion van
Consumer review (newegg.com)
Great concept. And plays all the formats I want
I ordered the combo with the Western Digital Caviar SE WD5000AAJB 500GB drive. Turns out that drive has problems with the 4000U (according to MVixUSA Tech Support). They recommended using Seagate or Maxtor drives

The M4000U Mvix is not intended for HD or wireless playback (Any "idiot" can look at its specifications online before buying it :) However, I like XBMC too, since the project features a python script engine (I am a python programmer and think writing...
Great Product
None. If you are willing to spend some more money, you may want to look at one that can do wireless or HD playback ; (Mvix 760 HD or Tvix 4100/5100)
