Aptly named, the TiVo HD XL offers a terabyte drive so that you can record oodles of HD programs.
Easy to use. 1TB hard drive. Dual HD tuners. eSATA port. Backlit TiVo Glo remote. Includes an HDMI cable.
Pricey. Cable TV DVRs can be less expensive in the long run. YouTube videos often don't look too hot on a large HDTV.

Everything's getting tiny. The once sexy V-8 engine is now an automotive pariah while the Smart Car gets all the chicks; HD video cameras are...
Western Digital hard drive is nearly silent. THX-certified audio and video (finally). Say goodbye to the ugly stick — the XL gets the same slick programmable remote as the Series 3. TiVo-easy, as expected, with the company’s ever expanding catalog of...
Remote collects more greasy fingerprints than a secondhand sex-bot. Annoying info screen hovers over the picture a few seconds too long with each channel change. Cutesy TiVo noises are a little grating, and your only other option is to turn all the...

TiVo HD XL
Can record two HD programs simultaneously while playing back a third, previously recorded one; huge 1TB storage capacity; expandable storage; accepts cable TV and over-the-air signals; 30-second commercial skip; excellent easy-to-use interface and...
Requires subscription fee in addition to cable bill; sluggish transitions between menu screens; does not work with video-on-demand services; requires extra tuner box for cable systems with switched digital video services; must program 30-second skip;...
The TiVo HD XL charges a hefty premium for its spacious recording capacity and THX certification, but most users will be content sticking to the all-but-identical standard TiVo HD DVR.

If you need the storage space for HD programming, or you record an awful lot of regular programming and like to keep it on hand, then you can probably justify the price of the HD XL. It's got more storage space out of the box than any other available...

In addition to cable bill When TiVo discontinued its high-end cable-ready high-def DVR, the TiVo Series3, it was really just making room for a new product in the line: the TiVo HD XL. The new TiVo is a near twin to the existing TiVo HD, but for three...

To all this smaller-is-better madness: TiVo just announced the TiVo HD XL. Stuffed like a Cornish hen with a terabyte hard drive, it's the highest capacity DVR available, with room for 150 hours of HD content. That-s, like, every Olympic event you...
