DJI Mavic Air review

Dedicated joystick controller ; Gimbal stabilized 4K camera ; Robust obstacle avoidance ; Plentiful intelligent flight modes

Touchy camera controls, unless you’re in Cinematic mode

The Mavic Air might be DJI’s best drone to date. It’s certainly not perfect, but it checks all the right boxes. It’s super compact and portable, has a dedicated controller, shoots video in 4K, has an advanced obstacle avoidance system, and boasts a...

DJI Mavic Air

The Mavic Air is DJI's smallest, most portable drone, and is just as full-featured as its larger siblings.

Very small. High bit-rate 4K UHD video. HDR and Panorama still capture. Raw and JPG support. Asteroid video shot. Good obstacle avoidance. Automated flight modes.

Doesn't support USB charging. No 4K DCI video. Panorama stitching needs some work. Real-world flight limited to about 18 minutes.

The Mavic Pro showed us that small drones can be just as capable as larger ones. The Mavic Air aims to take things one step further, putting a powerful aircraft and 4K camera into a form factor you can slide into a large pocket. It doesn't have the...

The new DJI Mavic Air is a 4K Goldilocks

More powerful than DJI's palm-size Spark, but less expensive than its Mavic Pro, the Mavic Air is the new Goldilocks in the drone maker's consumer lineup.

The DJI Mavic Air's folding design makes it great for travel while its 4K-resolution camera and three-axis gimbal capture nice-looking photos and video. Automated shooting options and obstacle avoidance make it easy to get good results fast.

Flight time is typically between 15 to 18 minutes, so expect to buy extra batteries. Piloting by app can be frustrating, especially on smaller screens. Obstacle avoidance doesn't cover you from the sides or top.

An amazing amount of tech in a pocketable drone, the DJI Mavic Air is the best travel drone you're going to find right now.

DJI Mavic Air review: portable photographer

One part Mavic Pro, one part Spark, all delicious

Great compact design ; Clever obstacle avoidance system ; Fun autonomous features

Average image quality ; Short battery life is limiting ; Wi-Fi connection can be flaky

And for me, I’m pretty excited to now have a capable enough drone in my backpack at all times.

DJI Mavic Air

PhotoBite's video review of DJI's Mavic Air is complete in #TheMeasure – watch it here Possibly the most versatile consumer drone in the range, the Mavic Air's camera system houses a 1/2.3” CMOS sensor & the equivalent of a 24mm F2.8 lens [on a 35mm...

DJI Mavic Air Review

For the vast majority of consumer drone pilots, we think the Mavic Air hits a near ideal balance of performance, portability, and price. It weighs less...

Overall we think that the is a groundbreaking drone that builds on DJI's already impressive lineup of consumer drones. You'd be hard-pressed to find a model that can produce comparable footage in such a portable package and the is in a class of its own...

DJI Mavic Air Review: The Best Camera Drone

When the Mavic Pro came out, I thought DJI had made the best drone ever. With the Mavic Air, it's once again made a drone that's the envy of all others. The Mavic Air is portable, maneuverable, takes great photos and video, and comes packed with a...

Very easy to fly ; Great photos and video ; Innovative gesture controls, autonomous flight modes ; Object avoidance

Hard to switch between camera modes in app

Smaller, more compact and less expensive than its predecessor, the DJI Mavic Air still has the same great camera and some new features that make this drone even better.

DJI Mavic Air review

The metal joysticks are safely nestled inside the flip-out arms of the controller, the landing gear safely nestled in the propeller arms. Not a millimeter is wasted, not even in the packaging. It's the culmination of a dozen years of drone making...

Don’t let the ads fool you — these drones aren’t as user-friendly as a smartphone. And they’re certainly not idiot proof — take it from this idiot who landed the Air in a tree pretty much straight out of the box. Still, the latest DJI drone is an...
