This slimline beauty can not only play DVDs and Blu-ray discs, but also records them. Thanks to DVB-T2 technology, HD and SD digital TV programmes alike can be captured by the 250GB HDD. There are two such tuners, and so you can record two different...
An in-built DLNA media server enables you to share standard-def video, JPEG photos, and some types of HD content with compatible devices, including many flatscreen TVs. Thanks to networking, the world of BD-Live content is open to you (with an SD card...
Although there’s a CD-ripping jukebox on board, the media server won’t stream any of the music you’ve stored to compatible devices. And even after the relevant DR-mode bitstreams are converted to another mode that would be compatible with most devices,...

Last year Panasonic brought the first Blu-ray recorders with built-in Freesat HD tuners to the UK market, and it's beaten everyone to the punch again in 2010 with the equivalent Freeview HD models. The DMR-BW780 allows you to pick up razor-sharp HD...
Extensive feature set, picture quality, operating system, twin tuners
EPG, price, copy protection
The DMR-BW780 is not only an amazing recorder, offering loads of features and superb pictures from Freeview and Blu-ray, but it’s also a terrific digital media hub.

It doesn't stop there either. There are both Firewire and composite video inputs so that you can watch your camcorder movies on your TV, and an SD memory card slot and USB port for watching photo slideshows. There's also an Ethernet port allowing it to...
It's got it all - Freeview HD recording, Blu-ray playback and recording, surround sound, home media server and internet connectivity
Very expensive, unintuitive remote control, and adverts on the EPG(!)

Product capabilities, connectivity, ease of use, sleek design, integration with Panasonic TV (but see below)
1. Does not seem to fully integrate wth Panasonic TV - still need two remote control units. 2. Can be slow to operate - takes the unit a while to warm up before you can watch TV - you need to swithc on a couple of mins befor a programme starts. 3....

Looks good, easy to use, my previous dvd recorder was Panasonic and the instructions for use are similar. Only had it for a short time so can only comment on basic record and playback, havn't recorded onto disc yet but from past experience Panasonic...
Case is a bit plastic and the layout of TV guide and recorded programes not so easy on the eye as my older machine but maybe there is a choice of layout.

Good quality HD pictures Easy to program Blu-ray disks hold huge amount
Can't join 2 titles into single title Can't edit out adverts from DR recording seamlessly 250 GB hard disk is rather small for price paid

So many functions, Powerful yet versatile, Slim design, Excellent HD & Blu-Ray picture quality, Superb recording quality, Good remote control
Slightly slow interface, Complex to use, Basic Freeview EPG, Freeview SD pictures can be a tad soft
