This deck builds on an already-accomplished DVD/HDD platform with new features
Excellent performance and spread of features
Lack of analogue TV tuner or additional digital tuner may bother some
You won't be disappointed with this feature-laden DVD recorder

Since I was used to VHS-DVD combos, I decided to try one with a hard drive instead of a VCR, and the DMR-EX78 seemed like the ideal choice. This model has a 250GB HDD, SD digital integrated tuner, DVD recorder, and standard TV/DVD remote (which is...
250GB hard drive and easy of copying to DVD at high speed.

Only a couple months out of waranty and machine wont boot up. error code U88. Panasonic not interested to help, and rude, makes more sense to buy a cheaper no name brand. Also does not record hi definition channels even though H/D was all over the...

Broke down, doesnt play high def

Only glitch if holding remote control in hand "program "check button" engaged accidentally lower rh

I had a previous model (DMR-EH60) for 3 years (still working). It looks complicated at first but once you have worked your way through, it's not difficult to use. There are a couple of handy functions in the EH60 which are missing in this one: the...
Improves picture quality; once timer settings are inputted, automatically sets timer - no need to turn off recorder
Takes a few seconds to turn on in powersave mode; cannot save names of frequently recorded programmes

Easy to use, great picture quality, ability to play and record on HDD at the same time
flicks back to other TV source (analogue) but may be due to set up rather than the product itself.

A good looking product packed with features. Simple to use basic functions. I'm still scratching the surface on what I can do with it
None on the unit itself. The manual though comprehensive doesn't seem to cover all possibilities and I've not done anything complicated yet. Annoyingly when I use the remote it also operate my Panasonic Bluray player which I could do without.

ease of set up,just plug in and go. excellent recording and playback with upscaling to 1080 . a great piece of kit.
The use of all the functions performed by this recorder take a little getting use to,but if you follow the extensive accompanying instructions all becomes clear.
