Sony BDP-S360

Sony's most affordable player, the energy-efficient BDP-S360 serves up stellar picture quality with both high- and standard-definition discs.

Excellent standard DVD upconversion. Very energy-efficient.

Quick Start feature increases power consumption. Optional memory required for BD-Live support. No streaming multimedia features.

Sony BDP-S360 review

Blu-ray may have started out as a mess, with confusing "profiles" and painfully slow load times, but beginning this year standalone players have finally gotten their acts together. Sony's entry-level BDP-S360 is typical of the new breed of Blu-ray...

Profile 2.0-compatible; onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio Essential; excellent video quality on most Blu-ray movies.

Cannot access streaming video services such as Netflix; no Wi-Fi option; no eject button on the remote; relatively slow load times; recessed USB port.

The Sony BDP-S360 handles all the Blu-ray basics with ease, but it lacks the streaming Internet content found on competing models.

Sony BDP-S 360

Excellent 24p movie picture., Superb photo playback., Bitstream HD audio., BD-Live.

Slight weaknesses in DVD playback., No USB stick supplied for BD-Live.

In the core discipline — Blu-ray playback — the BDP-S 360 shows no weaknesses, providing a fantastic home-theater experience. What’s more, the player turns out to be quiet and economical, as well as providing easy operation and powerful audio output....

Review Of The Sony BDP-S360 Blu Ray Player

This latest one from Sony offers good replacement to the BDP S350 with a nice decent set of features. With this one, I guess Sony is trying hard to move its standalone players out of the shadow of the PS3 and that too, without burning a hole in the...

Simple User interface, Fantabulous picture quality

No Wi-Fi, slow disk loading, no multichannel outputs

For a £200 player this one gives a power packed performance. However the few missing features compared to its rivals take a toll on this one’s overall value. Add some more cash and you could definitely get a player with features like Wi-Fi and...

Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray Player

Sony continues to do its best to deliver great entry-level products for the masses. Most of the market is now approaching this same price point and including more features, such as on-demand video streaming from online sources like Netflix. This makes...

The setup menus are very streamlined, and Sony has eliminated some of the gray areas from its previous player setup menus. You even get a quick setup when you initially start up the player. All of the major settings are broken up into segments, which...

Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray Player Reviewed

Unlike some of its competitors, Sony has decided not to add streaming video-on-demand to its new entry-level player, the BDP-S360. This Profile 2.0 Blu-ray player offers BD-Live and BonusView support, as well as high-resolution audio decoding....

The BDP-S360 lacks 7.1-channel analog audio outputs, so it's not the best choice for someone who owns an older, non-HDMI A/V receiver ; The player lacks internal memory, so you must add your own USB flash drive. Plus, the USB port doesn't support photo...

In terms of Blu-ray features like BD-Live support and onboard high-resolution audio decoding, the BDP-S360's feature set is on par with other new entry-level players from companies like Panasonic, LG, and Samsung. However, those companies have all...

Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray player

An entry-level Blu-ray player that fails to stand out from the crowd

Great DVD upscaling and HD video performance, excellent user-interface, responsive remote control

Light on extra features, no front USB port, it's practically the same price as its fancier stable mate

The Sony BDP-S360 is a reasonably priced Blu-ray player that does the basics well. However, the Sony BDP-S560 is also reasonably priced -- and it comes with two USB ports and inbuilt Wi-Fi.
