Not worth it then, not worth it now.

Everyday use of this thing is annoying. My experience with this player completely mirrors that of many others'; the "disc explorer" takes too much time to use and maintain and the controls are counterintuitive. The manual is useless. The autoplay ...

Good capacity, looks cool.

Worthless interface, persnickety playback, useless instruction manual.

Below the Sony standard I thought I could trust.

Plays well, concept is very good even if not implemented well.

Misplaces discs (Major Con), slow to find requested slot.

Secrets To A Happy CX860 Experience

With Sony's recent introduction of its new 400-disc DVD changer, expect to see a flood of these "older" 301 disc units on the secondary market (i.e. Ebay) It was a pretty extravagant toy at its $600 list price a couple of years ago; now, expect to snap...

Waiting for the next generation of something better.

After reading the only other review on this product, I felt compelled to agree. I purchased this unit in hopes of automating my DVD disc collection, after I have so eloquently done so with my Sony CD changers. Not so much luck on this product. It does ...

Very good audio video quality, many options when playing a disc.

Automation is non existent, non-intuitive user interface.

Stay away - there must be something better

I purchased this unit a little of a year ago. I mainly wanted a DVD/CD changer and I have had good experience with Sony products. This unit as well as all of the other 8xx changers are not ready for prime time. Issues:

301 Disk capacity, good audio/video quality

Not ready for prime time

Sony Comes Close, But Falls Short.

When I began to research the Sony DVD changer I was quite excited. I am an avid DVD collector and the amount of jewel cases that I had was piling up. Not only did it take up a huge amount of space, but finding a movie you wanted to watch took...

Nice,convenient system. Good player quality.

Poor user interface requires some getting used to.

Absolutely Retarded!

This is one of the most unusable consumer electronic devices ever released. Here is a partial list of design defects:

It seemed like a great idea.

It's faster and easier to organize your discs without this product.

Great for a 300+1 Changer at this price!

I have had this player for several months now, and I have 3 friends who have had this player for between 7-4 months. It's not perfect, but it is great at what it was designed to do! I think sometimes our expectations are a bit unrealistic. The average...

Good Size for a 300+1 player, Good Sound and Picture, Outputs, Good Price!

Worst Problems Fixed

Everybody likes the size, cosmetics and picture. Usability could be better but there are easy workarounds. There are exhaustive descriptions about three problems that caused some reviewers to return the unit or keep it begrudgingly. I'll avoid the...

Small size, fast disk access

No daisy chaining, no CD-R playback
