Sony RDR-HXD870 Digital Video Recorder

Sony has thrown everything into this recorder - you could probably even use it for the washing up!

The RDR-HXD870 is a magnificent hard-disk/DVD combi recorder that boasts a staggering array of features (including the all-important Series Recording) and killer performance. But the biggest bonus is the price – at just over £200 it’s much more...

Sony RDRHXD870

The Sony RDRHXD870 appears to offer an impressive range of features -- including 1080p upscaling and a USB port -- for an attractive price.

But there are many more strings to its bow, such as the ability to upscale recordings and DVDs to 1080p, 1080i and 720p through the HDMI output. It also records onto a wide range of DVD formats, including DVD-RW and DVD+RW, plus single and dual-layer...

Sony RDR-HXD870

The RDR-HXD870 comes from a new breed of cutting-edge digital recorders that offer 1080p upscaling, allowing you to make the most of DVDs and TV recordings on Full HD TVs. But this is merely the tip of the iceberg

Sony RDRHXD870

Excellent, easy to use, great build quality. Only prob I have is trying to change the input to watch something on L1 when recording digital TV (my older 760 model has no problem doing this though).

Easy to use, HDMI upscaling of Foxtel

Can't change input when recording

Sony RDRHXD870

Love it. Replaced my old video/DVD player combo with this about 6 months ago & haven't looked back. SO easy to use - love the thumbnail pics to find what I've recorded, flexible & versatile.

Easy to use, well designed controls, mostly intelligent layout & functions. Recording is now a breeze! The Guide function (& ability to set timing recording from it) is great though it takes a LOOONNNGGG while to come up at times - which may not be...

WIsh it had an HD tuner. Dislike the startup time it takes (if the show's on already, you can't press ON & hit Record & get it going instantly). Hard to stop it Timer Recording, though I figured it out eventually

"MARKED AS SPAM BY AKISMET"

Absolute piece of crap! I have tons of DVDs that I had recorded from TV/FOXTEL onto my old DVD recorder....they all play just fine in every other player I own. Got this one and not one of them will play....keeps saying "cannot play disc" and "no...

Sony RDRHXD870

First one I bought I thought (and was told by Sony) that it was faulty. The playback from the hard drive would freeze, I could not access the EPG at all, nor could I access captions (or subtitles) for my hearing impaired mother. I exchanged it for a...

The A-B editing feature. Love it

Everything else. Lots of bells & whistles on paper but good luck trying to get them to work
