The Kindle Scribe is the biggest and most expensive Kindle on the market, and the first one that you can write on. It also happens to be something I adore.
Slim and lightweight design E-ink screen looks fantastic Tried-and-true Kindle reading Superb writing experience Weeks of battery life Very competitive pricing
Few formatting tools for writing Limited Kindle app integration
“The Amazon Kindle Scribe isn't for everyone. But if you want a single gadget for reading and writing on a lovely e-ink screen, it's about as good as it gets.”

The Scribe lives up to being an e-reader you can use for taking notes, sketching and marking up docs, but it's not a total slam dunk.
Text and images appear sharp on large 10.2-inch, 300 ppi display ; Writing feels smooth and natural ; Adjustable warm light with 35 LEDs ; Can mark up PDFs, other docs ; Easy to send documents to device ; Weeks of battery life
Pretty weighty and pricey ; Needs a cover with a built-in stand ; PDF browsing could be better ; Can't mark up Kindle e-books (or DRM-free ePub ebooks) ; Note-taking could be more robust

The Amazon Kindle Scribe is an excellent big-screen ebook reader and note-taking device, but don't confuse it for a drawing pad.

In our Kindle Scribe review, we take a look at an e-ink e-reader with a surprisingly capable stylus. This tech's come a long way in a decade.
Smooth writing surface feels and sounds like paper ; Weeks-long battery life ; Sleek profile excellent for both reading and writing
Physical navigation buttons would be nice ; Only newer Kindle without IP water-resistance rating ; Some room for growth in notebook organization and features

The Amazon Kindle Scribe is a valiant first attempt at cracking into the digital note-taking market. It has its flaws, but for my needs, the Scribe is good enough.
Large high-resolution display ; Fantastic writing surface ; Excellent ebook reader ; Long battery life ; Premium pen is not as pricey as competitors'
No handwriting to text recognition ; Limited notebook sharing ; No physical buttons
When I first considered the ReMarkable 2 , I wasn't looking for a tablet for media consumption, graphic designing, or the slew of other functions that are best performed by an iPad, Surface Pro, or Samsung Galaxy tablet . I was simply looking for a...

The Kindle Scribe is a slick, premium e-reader that lets you get messy (sometimes).
Big screen ; Freedom to annotate ; Multiple storage options
Notes can feel restrictive ; Price veers into iPad territory
This Kindle Scribe e-reader is a strong addition to Amazon’s lineup, with the beginnings of writing capability and a digital pen capable of making scrappy notations throughout your ebooks and PDFs. We wish the notation feature was a little more...

The Amazon Kindle Scribe is a terrific e-reader mated with a mediocre note-taking device that costs far too much for what it offers, making this a pricey niche product.
At least the Scribe isn’t a bad product, and with some tweaking of what it can do and how much it costs, Amazon might be able to better justify it. What we don’t and can’t know yet is whether Amazon’s planned feature rollouts will make a better case...

While the Kindle Scribe could be a much more tempting buy with some software updates, you have every reason to wait and see if Amazon can pull it off. Amazon needs to stop coasting on old Kindle OS software to make the Scribe worth the high price.

Excellent hardware and a fantastic writing experience is held back by limited software and functionality.

The Kindle Scribe has the biggest screen Amazon has made for its e-reader, and you can now write on it — but its limitations, and its cost, mean it only has niche appeal.
