TomTom Go 510 review: Great navigation, now more connected

TomTom has updated its navigation devices, ushering in new features and some changes to the user interface to make life simpler for drivers trying to get from A to B. The TomTom Go 510 is a welcome update to the Go family of devices, its 5-inch screen...

Excellent traffic, great navigation, good visuals, interface tweaks welcomed, offline planning useful

MyDrive searching could be more dynamic

The TomTom Go 510 is a welcome update to the Go family of devices, its 5-inch screen being the ideal size for at-a-glance navigation. By comparison, we think the 6-inch Go 610 is too large for most cars.

The TomTom Go 510 is a 5-inch sat nav that includes lifetime maps and speed camera data. It doesn't come with traffic features included, but you can access them by connecting it to your mobile phone. TomTom sat navs generally have a good track record...

TomTom Go 510

TomTom has a long and respected history in the GPS navigation industry so there's plenty of experience and knowledge behind each of its devices. The TomTom Go 510 is one of the company's very best. There's a 4in touch screen LCD and 50 different voices...

Maps can be displayed in traditional 2D formats or for even more accurate navigation 3D

Very good GPS

Obviously they want you to buy maps, but they are expensive. Add an extra $80 to the cost of this for better maps.

Very easy to use, touch screen is large and responsive. Easy to update and get maps for. I bought a refurb and wouldn't know without the piece of paper that came in the box that said "road-tested." Comes with an SD card to keep maps on, not stored on...

Software that loads on your PC is a little slow sometimes. Maps are expensive to update; My TOMTOM came with maps from 2006 (bought it in July 2008)

AWSOME Scored big Time

I am happy they sent me the 710 and not the 510. only thing is its only available in europe so when I go to update it I have to deal in euro's and not dallors but hey who cares!!! GHood luck I hope you all get a free upgrade.

So I ordered a tomtom 510. To my suprise when I open the box I got a ..... tomtom 710!!!!! A big fluke but I would say thats a pretty cool grab bag. I am not saying everyone will accidently get a 710 but I sure did. Its sweet!!!! Has some awsome...

The computer mount is not very secure. Make sure not to touch your tomtom when connected to the computer or you risk loosing your progress.

Convenient but not perfect

I think these things are amazing, and even my skeptical wife finally warmed up to it. Now when you get off the airline and into the rental, you can have some peace of mind. But it's not perfect. It can tell you to take a turn on an expressway when you...

Good user interface, great set of features, good battery life. Nice screen. Points of Interest very handy

Database doesn't show my street, and can take several minutes to get signal. If purposely deviating from course, there is no simple way to "mute" it. Phone microphone not that good.Locked up on the road and needed a soft reset. Whose got a paper clip

GO 510 Is A Solid GPS Unit

The Pros: TTS (text-to-speech) which allows you to take your eyes off the unit while driving but still hear the directions so that you do not make a wrong turn.
