ASUS Strix 7.1 Review

It seems that in recent times manufacturers want to take our audio completely into their own hands…which may not be a bad thing for those with laptop, or inbuilt audio solutions. Taking control used to mean bundling a basic USB soundcard with a headset...

Starting with the design of the Strix 7.1 we have a headset which initially disappointed. It feels very plasticy, basically because it is… once we got over that we started to appreciate the cool ear-cup design, inside and especially outside. Those LED...

Asus Strix 7.1

The Asus Strix 7.1 is a premium, multi-channel gaming headset that packs in five drivers in each ear piece for true 7.1 surround sound. Coupled with a desktop volume controller that can also take audio inputs from other sources such as games consoles...

Excellent surround sound performance ; USB controller is versatile and easy to use ; Can switch easily between PC and HDMI inputs

Stereo performance only on par with headsets half the price ; Not all that comfortable and creaks ; Concerns about non-replaceable cable

The Asus Strix 7.1 is a great surround gaming headset that will be a great addition for gamers that don’t have a surround-sound graphics card and do also have their console next to their PC. In one unit it’ll provide surround sound gaming for both....

Review: Asus Strix 7.1

There's no denying that delivering true 7.1 surround sound through headphones is an impressive feat. The five neodymium magnets – two 40mm, one 30mm and two 20mm - housed in each ear cup deliver some serious noise, with genuine directionality when it...

Asus Strix 7.1 Review

The Strix 7.1 is an all-singing, all-dancing headset with 10 drivers and true 7.1 surround sound

The Strix 7.1 is undoubtedly a very nice headset. That said, if you just want good quality stereo sound, it can be had for a lot less money in the

Proper Upgrade

My old G930 unit that I had for many years is on its last leg. I was looking for a good replacement and tried the HyperX Cloud II headset. I was disappointed by those and decided to try the Asus. I'm very happy now. Note: If you enable the 7.1 surround...

-Packaging: Great job Asus! Finally a headset that doesn't require the destruction of its package. -Aesthetics: This headset inspires both fear and admiration from other headsets. Braided cable is not too thick or intrusive. -Quality: Feels like I'm...

-Software: No software. The audio station has a built-in audio card and a number of presets, but those don't give personal customization. -Mic: Personally, I'm not a happy with Asus' mic solution. I feel they could have done a retractable or tuck-away...

Initial impressions

Comfort: Coming from a Razer Blackhawk, these feel weird. The Blackhawk's earcups sit directly on my ears. The Strix has huge earcups and they sit directly on your head with your ears completely surrounded by the earcup. Hopefuly, I'll get used to it....

Seems sturdy Plug and play

No software equalizer Lack of bass No headset stand No verticle swivel on earcups

EDIT: Nothing But Issues Now

Its was like a too good to be true relationship, this thing DID work great, sound quality was great, pinpoint sounds, mic was clear. Things went downhill fast, squeeling, resetting, crackling, I did everything it asked of me, i installed the firmware...

Sound and Mic quality were good for a gaming headset

- Constantly resetting - Squeels - Crackles and resets - Causes PC to freeze during reset

Great Headset, With A Tiny Bit Of Setup.

You NEED to do this when you get your headset. When you frist get the headset, if you spin the adjustment knob on the hub to fast it will go up and down, there is no sidetone, and it will pop at the beginning of programs (like CS:GO) To remedy this...

I cant say anymore about how much i love this headset, i was sick and tired of my Logitec G930's squeeling, reseting, not working in general. and I stepped up to these. I use it for all purposes, put it on 2 Channel for music and it will echo in the...

you cant adjust the heatset, but its not a problem, i have a large head and it perfect, girlfriend has a considerably smaller fram and she has mentioned a little pressure from the bottom of the pads onto her upper jaw, but she hasnt complained about it...

Strix grabbed by the ears

Headset fits on tight on my big head. There are no extensions on the earmuffs, just a one size fits all - then it just stretches to your head size. Fits tight, like I mentioned - very snug, but comfortable. Begin to get sweaty, noticed after removing...

I am digging the little control hub. Lots of variations of control for different types of game play. The Amp feature is also nice, also the ability to toggle everything within reach; instead of having to mess around with sound profiles and such. I also...

(-1 egg) No adjustable ear muffs - fits on tightly. Comfort is important and having "options" to adjust freely is also a requirement...perhaps they'll loosen up after some more wear n tear. They are noticeably heavy, but given how tight they fit - they...
