Bose QuietComfort 45 review: More (and less) of a very good thing

Bose has updated its QuietComfort headphones with a bigger battery and Bluetooth 5.1, but are the QC 45's higher price and fewer features a deal-breaker?

“Bose's most popular headphones get a bigger battery, but drop some features.”

Bose QuietComfort 45 Review

Best-in-class noise cancellation ; Sculpted audio with rich bass and crisp highs ; Exceptionally comfortable

ANC can’t be adjusted ; No EQ ; Sound signature isn't accurate for true audiophiles

Though the competition is stiffer than ever, the Bose QuietComfort 45 headphones continue to lead the industry with the best active noise cancellation you can buy.

Bose QuietComfort 45/QC45 Wireless Review

The Bose QuietComfort 45/QC45 Wireless are the next generation of the Bose QuietComfort 35 II/QC35 II Wireless 2018. They have a very similar look and feel to th...

Good build quality. Over 21 hours of continuous playback time. Very good recording quality. Excellent noise isolation performance. Very comfortable.

Poor passive soundstage. Mic struggles to separate your voice from moderate ambient noise. Bulky and can fall off your head with more intense movement.

The Bose QuietComfort 45 are good for neutral sound. They have a very neutral sound profile with a touch of extra thump, rumble, and boom in the bass that doesn't overwhelm vocals or lead instruments. Luckily, if you want to adjust their sound, their...

Really good ANC compared to many others ; Comfortable to wear ; Aware mode ; USB-C, 3.5mm audio option ; Hard travel case included ; Bluetooth 5.1

No auto-pause/auto-resume ; No EQ and Noise Cancelling customisations ; No airplane adapter included ; No aptX

Bose’s upgraded QuietComfort Series comes with superior audio noise cancellation and perfected design

TEST: Bose QuietComfort 45 | QC45 | Minor Adjustments From Bose Bose QuietComfort 45

Bose QuietComfort 45, or just QC45, is essentially a QC35 II with ambient sound - and USB-C.

Among the most comfortable headphones we know of. Good noise reduction and ambient sound. Neutral sound balance.

The sound is perceived as slim, noise reduction has a bit of a hiss and can also not be turned off without simultaneously activating ambient sound. Not waterproof.

If you like the Bose QuitetComfort 35, you will like the QuietComfort 45 even better. They are basically the same headphones, only with USB-C, ambient sound and multipoint.

Bose's QC45 headphones retake the noise canceling headphone throne.

World-beating noise canceling ; Detailed sound ; Ample battery life

Limited features ; No adjustable EQ

Bose's New Headphones Are Exactly What You'd Expect From Bose

It's a tried and true formula, and it works, if you're into it.

Comfortable. USB-C! Excellent sound (if you like Bose's sound signature). Excellent noise canceling. Adds transparency mode. Improved battery life.

No EQ. Some interference when you simultaneously connect multiple devices.

Elite active noise cancellation ; Refined sound signature ; Increased battery life ; Fantastic comfort and connectivity ; Bose Music app support ; Can use ANC in wired mode

Can’t turn off ANC ; Lacks several features found on previous Bose headphones ; Dip in call quality

Bose QuietComfort 45 Review: Sound of silence | Trusted Reviews

The Bose QuietComfort 45 feature excellent noise cancellation but are surprisingly short of features for their premium price

Excellent noise cancellation ; Good comfort ; Improved battery life

Rather sparse for features ; Lacks musicality of rivals

Bose’s latest effort in the QuietComfort series offers excellent noise cancellation, good audio, and an updated design. In that respect, they’re as good as they’ve ever been. If you’re in need of smarts and customisable features though, the QC 45 are...
