Bose SoundSport Free true wireless headphones review

5 hours of battery life ; IPX4-rated waterproofing ; Good bass response ; Comfortable

Large form factor ; Pricier than similar competitors

With five hours of battery life, limited waterproofing, and good sound, the Bose SoundSport Free are a well-made entry into the fully wireless headphone market – especially if you’re a bass lover. Still, you can get better fully wireless headphones for...

A pricier, better sounding alternative to Apple's AirPods

Although some small design gripes remain, Bose's SoundSport Free are among the best totally wireless earphones available now.

Bose's SoundSport Free, a set of totally wireless earphones, offers richer sound than Apple's AirPods and a more secure fit. The buds are water-resistant and durable, battery life is decent and a charging case provides two extra charges on the go.

The buds stick out pretty far from your ears. The case is a little large compared to the AirPods' and Jabra Elite 65t's cases.

Although Bose's SoundSport Free may not be perfect, thanks to some software upgrades and a price drop, it's become one of the best -- and best sounding -- totally wireless earphones.

Bose SoundSport Free review: truly wireless earbuds never sounded so good

But that comes at a cost in more ways than one

Fantastic sound ; Water resistant ; Rock solid connection

They struggle in loud environments ; Don’t always sync with video ; High price tag

Bose SoundSport Free

The bass-forward Bose SoundSport Free earphones are expensive, but nail the design and operational details right better than any other pair in the growing wire-free category.

Powerful audio performance with boosted bass response. Exceptionally secure fit. Water-resistant design. Simple, easy-to-use on-ear controls. App simplifies pairing process.

Expensive. Very sculpted sound signature.

I was starting to wonder until recently if I'd ever review a pair of true wireless earphones that isn't overshadowed by its flaws. With the SoundSport Free, Bose gets the design, fit, ease of use, and sound quality down in a way that the competition...

Bose SoundSport Free Truly Wireless Review

The Bose SoundSport Free are truly wireless earbuds with a well-balanced sound profile. They've got a comfortable earbud fit with a semi-open design suitable for...

Sturdy and durable build quality. Stable and comfortable fit. Well-balanced sound profile.

High latency on PCs. Poor noise isolation, by design. Bulky truly wireless design.

Good for neutral listening. The Bose SoundSport Free are well-balanced and have a good amount of bass. Instruments and vocals also sound clear but a bit forward. However, their semi-open, in-ear design doesn't create a spacious and open soundstage,...

Bose SoundSport Free HEADPHONES

The are surprisingly good-sounding truly wireless earbuds. They have a comfortable earbud fit with a semi-open design for outdoor runners, but this also makes them a bit worse for commuting since they do not block a lot of noise. Unfortunately, they...

Great audio reproduction. ; Stable and comfortable fit. ; Sturdy and durable build quality.

Poor noise isolation, by design. ; Bulky truly wireless design. ; High latency.

Bose SoundSport Free Review

While these buds sound very good, they really don't live up to the "sport" part of their name. These heavier than average totally wireless earbuds felt...

The is a reasonable attempt at athletically inclined, truly wireless earbuds, but other companies have already done better.

Bose SoundSport Free true wireless headphones review: These splash-proof earbuds will please athletes and audiophiles

The SoundSport Free provide equal helpings of excellent sound and situational awareness, making them a great choice for athletes.

Forward-sounding bass, excellent balance of mids and highs ; Outstanding Bluetooth connectivity ; IPX4 weather resistance ; Provide good situational awareness for runners ; 15 hours total battery life, charging case battery included

Expensive ; Larger than most hardware in its class ; Designed to allow outside sound in—may not appeal to all listeners

At $249, the Bose SoundSport Free are expensive: you can find a number of competent true wireless headsets for significantly less. But with their nearly unflappable Bluetooth reception, water resistance, easy to use controls and brilliant sound, we...

Bose SoundSport Free Review: Superior Wireless Audio and Comfort

The Bose SoundSport Free earphones were a bit of a surprise on many levels during my testing. The first thing that struck me and will likely strike you is when you open the package, these buds are relatively large.

One of the best-sounding wireless headphones yet ; Well-designed charging base ; Tips and jacket are one piece, making it hard to lose tips ; Comfortable to wear and stay in place during exercise routines

Relatively large buds stick out of ears ; Noise isolation is lacking for noisy environments like a gym ; Expensive compared to competition

The Bose SoundSport Free provide great wireless audio quality in a comfortable design for long listening sessions.
