Labs Brief: Corsair Raptor HS40

Compared to the headphones covered a step to the left, these, at half the price, stack up quite well. Built around 40mm drivers, the sound is certainly acceptable for what we'd consider budget cans. Music, games and movies were tested, and in general...

A rare mis-step from Corsair.

Corsair Raptor HS40 Review

A little while ago Corsair acquired Raptor Gaming to bolster their entry level peripherals, we now look to the new HS40 USB gaming headset.

Choosing an entry headset on a tight budget can seem fairly daunting as you never know what to expect amongst the hoards of cheap looking plastic 'clackyphones'. However, in a sub £40 market, it is understandable that there are various aspects that...

Good Headset........ sorta

Good starter headset, but i would recommend spending a little more money and getting something more solid.

-Good Quality Sound -Comfortable for extended use

-Broke after 6 months of gentle user, repeatedly cuts in and outs as if a cable is damaged but i cannot find any blemishes or even scuffs on it. -Software is .... bad. horrible controls. took me 4 hours to get this working on my PC just due to the...

They fit great, Mic works well, Easy set up.

There heavy, after gaming for a couple of hours you notice it more.

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Broke after 7 months, software is garbage, mic might as well be a tin can with a string on it

Don't buy this. I am very dissapointed with Corsair as I bought this due to their logo. I figured that it wouldn't be deluxe, but in day to day experience, the only about this thing better than a 7 dollar crapset is that it sounds better, and that's...

- Good sound after you EQ it - Cheap, not including the shipping cost for the inevitable RMA - Relatively comfortable

- Software is beyond flaky. It resets the microphone volume every time you restart the computer, and provides almost no options. - If using this with a game and Mumble, it switches the left and right audio (sweet.) Doesn't happen on any other headset...

Don't believe the few bad reviews. Get gaming headset driver 2.0.37 "corsair.com/en-us/support/downloads"

The sound quality is superb, and the new Corsair software (gaming headset driver 2.0.37 fixes any Windows 10 issues others may have had in the past). The 7.1 sounds so good, and the build quality is really nice. Nothing cheap at all about this, other...

I can't honestly see any.

Good enough

I have used these for ~6 months and they have held up well, I do treat them well, but I do knock them off my arm rest (I have nowhere else)and they have held up well

Pretty decent headset, the virtual 7.1 is interesting and since I am not an audiophile I don't care much about the quality. My friends say the mic is of good quality and it does seem so.

Alrighty, here are the cons: *Uncomfortable after 2 hours, my ears rib the inside and becomes hard to bear after awhile, wearing a winter hat helps, but may be warm because you have to let your ears breath here and there because the leather doesn't...

Corsair Raptor HS40 - Great until they break.

Not Recommended! Would not buy again.

Sound quality was good until they broke. Fairly comfortable fit. Affordable.

These broke after one year of daily use. The inline volume control is poorly designed, it's bulky and located in just the right spot where it gets snagged on everything. After these broke i took apart the volume control, the tiny wires have no slack...

Don't buy

Filed a RMA with Corsair but they want me to pay out of pocket to mail them in while pushing strict package rules upon me. Never buying from this brand again.

Good sound, when it doesn't short out or BSOD my PC. Relatively comfortable.

Volume control has a short, which disconnects the headset and occasionally causes a hardware-based BSOD. Used this headset maybe 5 hours in the last year.

Very Bad Headset

Do not get this, even if it is 50 dollars.

The sound quality is okay.

The microphone constantly sounds like someone is blowing into it and you can not make out anything anything you are saying.
