Plantronics BackBeat Pro

What these headphones lack in style they make up for in nifty features.

Class 1 Bluetooth 4.0 is gilding the lily a bit, but they sound terrific and their battery lasts a good long time.

Plantronics BackBeat Pro (review): A more affordable alternative to Beats and Bose with an office slant

The BackBeat Pro may not be the sexiest looking headphones, but they sound decent, are comfortable and include noise-canceling to help you shut out unwanted office chatter.

The Plantronics BackBeat Pro features both wireless Bluetooth and noise-canceling in a sturdy, comfortable design. The headphones sound decent, are packed with features, have excellent battery life and come with a nice carrying pouch.

Design has a little too much of an office vibe to it; fairly heavy at 360 grams; bass and treble may be a little too hyped for some people.

Despite some small drawbacks, the feature-packed Plantronics BackBeat Pro is an intriguing option for those looking for a wireless headphone with active noise-cancelling.

Plantronics BackBeat Pro

Not everybody's going to like its look -- it does have a sort of ungainly business professional vibe to it -- but it seems well-built and is comfortable to wear, though it's not lightweight, weighing in at 340 grams or 12 ounces. By comparison, the...

Review: Plantronics BackBeat Pro

The latest noise-canceling headphones from Plantronics are Bluetooth-enabled, making them more versatile than the competing cans from Bose. And they're cheaper, too.

High-caliber, active noise-canceling headphones work wirelessly over Bluetooth. Connect to two devices simultaneously, use NFC to pair quickly. 24-hour battery life will last from Boston to Bangkok and then some. Playback pauses automatically when...

Switches on the ear cups for power and noise-canceling are easy to get confused. Because playback pauses when headphones are taken off, you might assume the headphones have powered down even though the battery life ebbs away

Plantronics BackBeat PRO

The Plantronics BackBeat PRO Bluetooth over-ear headphones sound very good, but the active noise cancellation feature should be used sparingly.

Balanced, full sound signature with noise cancellation disabled. Comfortable, intuitive design. Long-lasting battery. Can function wired, without power.

Active noise cancellation significantly hurts sound quality.

Conclusion Plantronics' BackBeat Pro headphones are an excellent wireless over-ear pair with a full feature set for a reasonable price. It's a shame that the noise cancellation damages the sound so much, making it a feature you should only save for...

Plantronics Backbeat Pro HEADPHONES

The Plantronics Backbeat Pro are an above-average pair of headphones. The ergonomic design is great, and the build quality is solid if a little stiff. The sound profile caters more to bass-heavy music genres but still offers passable audio...

Solid build quality. ; Great ergonomic design.

Heavy and stiff ear cups. ; Hyped Bass and treble audio profile. ; ANC produces audible low rumble when turned on.

Plantronics BackBeat Pro Review

Plantronics just announced its high-end offering – the Plantronics BackBeat PRO. Armed with all the goodies you'd expect from a premium pair of over-the-ear headphones, like NFC, active noise cancellation, and up to 24 hours of battery life, the...

Aggressive style gives it an edgy appeal ; OpenMic feature provides us with enhanced hearing ; Impressive range of nearly 50 feet indoors ; Plenty of play time after only a short period of charging ; Ample padding makes it extremely comfortable when worn

Mostly plastic construction gives it a lower-quality finish ; Without a collapsible design, it occupies more room than other headphones

Plantronics’ expertise and experience comes to life with the BackBeat PRO, which is one heck of a premium pair of headphones that won’t disappoint on many fronts. Sure, its $249.99 price point will give many people something to think about before...

Plantronics BackBeat Pro Review

The Plantronics BackBeat Pro Bluetooth headphones are an outstanding alternative to Bose and Beats headphones with wonderful sound, active noise canceling and 24 hour battery life at $249.

The Plantronics BackBeat Pro battery life is incredible. I did not it through a full 24 hour listening session with these headphones glued to my head. That’s not realistic. Instead I tested the BackBeat Pro battery life by using them as my main...
