Polk's sports headphones cut both ways

Since they won't fit everyone equally well, the Polk UltraFit 3000s will seem great to some users and not so great to others.

The ; is a sports in-ear-canal model (with an around-the-ear bendable hook) that offers a sweatproof design, decent sound, and comes with a plethora of accessories, including multiple eartips and two swappable cords, including one that has an...

Not everybody will get a secure fit -- if you don't, bass response will be reduced and the earphones will sound thin.

Review: Polk Audio UltraFit 3000 sports headphones

Polk Audio joins the list of manufacturers making sports-specific earbuds -- listening devices designed not only to withstand the sweat of your workout, but also...

Fantastic sound. Design prevents buds from popping out. Color-coded cables let you tell left from right at a glance. Various ear bud sizes ensures comfortable fit. Carrying case is anti-microbial

Microphone/remote works only with Apple products. Length of 14-inch and 41-inch cables are problematic, limiting where you can attach your iPod

Polk Audio UltraFit3000

The secure fit and laudable audio performance make Polk Audio's UltraFit3000 ideal for the gym, but some minor issues hold back its rating a bit.

Quality audio performance for the price. Exercise-focused design is moisture-resistant. Lightweight, secure fit. Comes with wide array of eartip and cable length options. Includes iPhone/iPad/iPod touch in-line controls.

Fit is always secure but can be inconsistent from ear-to-ear, affecting stereo image. Very slight distortion on deep bass tracks at maximum volume.

The UltraFits are best when complementing an active lifestyle, and particularly a sweaty one. I can’t recommend them for serious listening, as their lack of high end translated into a lack of realism and enjoyment—but their midrange bump is perfect for...

These sound great and you barely even know they are in your ear while running. The Cord is short and non tangly which is great for connecting to my iPhone or iPod strapped to my arm. It comes with many options for ear size or personal foundness. It...

great for working out

I use these headphones when I go to the gym. They work great for their intended purpose. Sound quality is fine and they stay in place. Not low quality or audiophile sound - somewhere in-between.

good fit: stable with ear wraps and multiple sized/soft ear tips ; multiple length cables useful for clipping my iPod Shuffle to neck of t-shirt, or shirt sleeve ; sleeve on cable great for keeping the wires going to the earpieces under control ;...
