Mad Catz Tritton Pro+ 5.1 Surround Headset

Before current generation consoles were even conceived, PC gamers and enthusiasts have been able to enjoy the benefits that headsets offer. In recent years XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3 users are now also able to enjoy those same benefits. Today Benchmark...

Excellent sound ; Great volume range ; Individual speaker adjustment ; Detatchable and positionable microphone ; Selectable Voice Monitoring ; Setup is simple ; No drivers needed ; True 5.1 Surround (4 drivers in each earcup) ; Lightweight but solid...

Expensive enthusiast product ; Earpads too firm ; Not enough bass ; Only tuned for gaming ; No EQ options ; Didn't work well through analogue (PC)

Important: In this section I am going to write a brief five point summary on the following categories; Performance, Appearance, Construction, Functionality and Value. These views are my own and help me to give the TRITTON Pro+ True 5.1 Surround Headset...

Tritton AX Pro 5.1 Headset - Setup and Comfort

To start off with, both the audio controller box and the headset itself will need to be plugged into a power source using the AC power adapters. If your PC does not have a sound card equipped with an optical audio input, you will need to use the...

Excellent surround sound reproduction, very versatile for PC/console gaming and movie watching, comfortable

Tedious setup and configuration, $160 USD price may be too high for some, bass and rear-surround effects are occasionally lacking, illumination cannot be turned off easily

Aside from the few minor drawbacks that I mentioned previously, the difficult setup is really the only major sticking point. Since I expect that most of the users who will be considering buying this headset will be tech-savvy, this is probably not a...

Tritton AX Pro 5.1-channel gaming headphones

Review Gaming headset outfit Tritton may not be a household name, but you can expect its profile to grow in the UK now that Mad Catz is handling the brand. The peripherals giant picked up the specialist headphone maker a year ago, pledging to bring...

If you’re looking for a genuine multi-channel gaming headset, then give the AX Pro an audition - the authenticity of the 5.1 experience is compelling. However, the drivers could stand a quality upgrade. These ‘phones won't begin to satisfy anyone with...

OK but not worth the money

Just invest in a good stereo headset with 3d surround. like the turtle beach dx12 $80. Thats what i ended up choosing in the end even over $250 units.

surround sound does seem more realistic than the 3D surround made from 2 speaker only headphones. Ear Pads are big and are more comfortable than the turtle beach units i tried

Doesnt get very loud ; Not much Bass ; The sacrifice u make for getting 4 speakers to fit in each ear, they end up being smaller

Excellent Product & Tech Support

Seems I'll have to go against the grain concerning the quality of Tech Support at Mad Catz/Tritton. Purchased these on 7/14/2009 from Newegg. I have thousands of hours using them. Over the course of time some of the plastic fatigued and this past...

Excellent sound quality and very comfortable - I've spent hours in these with no ear discomfort. I don't use the mic so I can't speak to the problems reported. However, I do have other headsets, including a pair of Denon AH2000 and none of them can...

Not worth the premium, terrible support

The idea is good, but the execution is bad. IMHO, to get it to work properly would push the price point of these headphones way out of reach for most gamers to be mainstream. Add in terrible customer service and support? Look elsewhere.

Good sound direction recognition...You CAN tell where a sound is coming from ; Mic works well. Nice and clear according to people on TS3 or Vent ; That's pretty much it

Terrible bass response, overly tinny treble. Any voice with a "ss" sound cuts into your ears. Poor sound quality over all, no matter the settings. Instruction manual offers little to no guidance in user set up for timings. Granted, audio quality...
