Acer Aspire 3 (A315-41-R98U)

This AMD Ryzen-based version of Acer's Aspire 3 budget laptop offers healthy pep for the money, but the touchpad, the battery, and the 15.6-inch display let down the team.

Ryzen CPU/Vega graphics deliver impressive pep for price. Comfortable keyboard. Easy RAM and storage upgrades. Empty 2.5-inch drive bay.

Short battery life. Dull, low-res screen. Flimsy touchpad. No USB Type-C ports.

Bottom Line: This AMD Ryzen-based version of Acer's Aspire 3 budget laptop offers healthy pep for the money, but the touchpad, the battery, and the 15.6-inch display let down the team.

Acer Aspire 3 review: A budget laptop or is it just cheap?

Good budget build quality ; Plenty of RAM and storage ; Decent display for the price

CPU performance doesn’t impress ; Integrated GPU is way behind the pack ; Keyboard could be better, lacks backlight ; Ships with Windows 11 Home S enabled

The Acer Aspire 3 cuts performance to the bone as it limbos below a $500 MSRP.

Acer Aspire 3 A315-41 (Ryzen 3 2200U, Vega 3, SSD, FHD) Laptop Review

Simple office notebook. Acer's 15.6-inch laptop scores some major points with its hardware combination of a powerful Ryzen 3 2200U APU, a fast SSD and 8 GB of dual-channel RAM. However, the screen and thermal performance disappoint.

matte screen ; SSD ; doesn't overheat ; fast SD card reader

TN panel with poor contrast and viewing angles ; average battery life at best ; only one USB 3.1 Gen 1 port

The Aspire 3 A315-41 is a 15.6-inch office notebook that is powered by a Ryzen 3 2200U APU. The APU offers more than enough computing power for such usage scenarios as office work and Internet browsing. The notebook does not become hot even under full...

Acer Aspire 3 A315-51 (i3-8130U, SSD, FHD) Laptop Review

Core i3 – now with Turbo. The Aspire 3 A315-51 scores well for its powerful processor, fast SSD, and reasonable price. There is no Windows OS installed though, and the display and battery life are unimpressive.

matte display ; Full HD display ; SSD ; maintenance cover ; AC Wi-Fi ; fast memory card reader

dark and low contrast display ; poor viewing angles ; average battery life ; no USB Type-C port

Acer has delivered a simple 15.6-inch office notebook with the Aspire 3 A315-51. The built-in Core i3 processor offers more than enough performance for typical office and Internet applications. Thanks to Turbo Boost, the first Core i3 processor to...

Acer Aspire 3 (i3-6006U, HD520) Laptop Review

Third round. The current model has an Intel Core i3-6006U processor and differs only marginally in terms of the price, when compared to the previously reviewed sibling models. We examine in this review whether this particular laptop is worth buying.

good maintenance options ; good price-to-performance ratio ; quiet operation ; SSD and HDD

outdated ports ; low-res panel

In our review, the Aspire 3 with Intel’s Core i3-6006U proves to be more powerful than the AMD-based alternative and, in terms of battery life, it lasts longer than the Core i5-7200U-based variant. The system performance and the hardware components are...

Acer Aspire 3 A315-21 (A6-9220, Radeon R4) Laptop Review

Simple office computer. Acer's 15.6-inch laptop offers an AMD APU from the Stoney Ridge generation, a quick SSD, and an additional 2.5-inch hard drive. The battery life leaves something to be desired.

matte display ; barely warms up ; SSD+HDD ; maintenance hatch ; AC-WLAN ; quick memory-card reader

dark, low-contrast display ; average battery life at best

Acer's Aspire 3 A315-21-651Y is a simple 15.6-inch office laptop to use at home. The APU has sufficient performance power to handle office and Internet-related applications. The laptop hardly warms up at all. It could also run quietly under every level...

Acer Aspire 3 (7200U, HD 620) Laptop Review

Solid worker. Acer has produced a well-equipped 15-inch notebook that needs not fear comparison with similarly equipped competitors. Find out how our test unit did in our detailed review.

affordable price ; nice size ; sufficient performance for simple applications ; low system noise ; many upgrade possibilities

short battery runtime on Wi-Fi ; only one USB-3.0 port ; display is easily warped ; low brightness

Acer's Aspire 3 is a good entry-level device that can manage more than just simple processes in everyday use and knows how to handle multi-tasking. It can even be used for some simple image processing, but apart from that you must not expect too much...

Long battery life considering the small 50Wh battery ~ 8 hours of videos ; Decent keyboard and touchpad ; Fair price ; The build is decently solid ; Lid with a lever design ; Good dimensions for a 15-incher (1.7 kg / 18.9 mm) ; PWM-free (BOE07CB) ;...

Some devices are configured with 4-core CPUs and eMMC storage ; Plastic build ; Low sRGB coverage and contrast ratio (BOE07CB) ; Bad viewing angles (BOE07CB) ; Soldered memory that works in a single-channel mode + just one M.2 slot
