Acer Aspire E5-471G-53XG

The Acer Aspire E5-471G-53XG desktop-replacement laptop has more than 9 hours of battery life. It's a good choice if you still need to use CDs or DVDs, but the competition is tough from other budget systems.

Long-lasting, removable battery. Discrete graphics. Low price. Ethernet, HDMI, and VGA ports.

No touch screen. Only one USB 3.0 port. Soft speakers. Bloatware. Only 1,366-by-768 screen resolution.

The Acer Aspire E5-471G-53XG is a good desktop-replacement laptop, and is certainly a passable choice if you need to replace an older system and still keep compatibility with older programs and peripherals. Its longer battery life is its one advantage...

Acer Aspire E5-553G-109A Notebook Review

Limited competitiveness. Despite some good approaches, an SSD and sufficient CPU performance, we cannot quite get accustomed to Acer's multimedia newcomer with an AMD basis. The engine does not work as efficiently and reliably as the Intel competition,...

sturdy case ; maintenance hatch ; flawless fabrication ; very good ClickPad ; SSD + 1 TB HDD ; good port selection for the price ; no PWM ; cool where it needs to be

performance problems ; pointless dual graphics with chance of minor dropped frames ; throttling outside of the stress test ; effectively almost not suitable for gaming ; fan whines somewhat at higher rotational speeds ; very bad display: ; poor...

The Acer Aspire E5-553G-109A's features we like best are the decent (keyboard) to very good (ClickPad) input devices as well as the solid and well manufactured case. The AMD processor is better suited for office applications and struggles with some...

Acer Aspire E5-575G (i5-7200U, GTX 950M) Notebook Review

Lots of hardware for little money. Thanks to a GeForce GTX 950M and a cutting-edge Kaby Lake processor, Acer's Aspire E5-575G should render even sophisticated games smoothly - and this at a competitive price of just 600 Euros ($673). What is the catch?

superb price-performance ratio ; decent configuration ; fast processor ; gaming-suitable graphics card ; Full HD resolution ; USB Type-C ; long battery life ; empty M.2 slot ; ac WiFi

screen's very low brightness ; no Windows operating system ; slow hard drive ; throttling in the stress test

It should not be surprising that an uncompromisingly high-end device cannot be expected from the 600-Euro (~$673) laptop category. Acer, however, offers a solid configuration and gaming suitable device to the mainstream market with its Aspire E15...

Acer Aspire E5-774G-78NA (GeForce 940MX GDDR5) Notebook Review

Successful desktop replacement. Acer delivers a well-equipped, 17.3-inch all-rounder for the home desk in the form of the Aspire E5-774g. The GeForce 940MX alongside a GDDR5 memory renders many games smoothly on the matte Full HD screen. However, the...

matte screen ; Full HD resolution ; plenty of computing power ; SSD + HDD ; maintenance hatch ; ac Wi-Fi

interface positioning

Acer's 17.3-inch laptop can offer a decent amount of application performance. Furthermore, the laptop renders many up-to-date and most older computer games smoothly without getting exceedingly loud. The noise development is kept within limits over the...

Acer Aspire E5-552G Notebook Review

Asynchronous. The combination of a dedicated Radeon R7 M360 with the integrated GPU of the SoC FX-8800P is a Crossfire unit called Radeon R8 M365DX and could not really convince in our review. The other aspects leave a better impression.

comparatively lightweight ; robust and well-built chassis ; good input devices ; no PWM ; decent HDD ; decent sound system ; very quiet and cool

very slow card reader ; port layout not ideal ; Wi-Fi signal a bit too weak ; bad maintainability, battery not accessible from the outside ; overall poor TN panel ; small viewing angles ; old and buggy GPU driver preloaded ; Crossfire stutters ; weak...

You can already see it in the pro/con list: Except for the decent chassis and the good input devices, the Acer Aspire E5-552G-F62G was not convincing in many respects. One possible usage scenario would be as a stationary office device.Acer's new...

Acer Aspire E5-722 662J Notebook Review

Virtuous office worker. Acer presents a sturdy 17-inch laptop in the form of the Aspire E5-722. As a low-cost office device, it does many things right. What are the advantages and disadvantages of a system based entirely on AMD components?

high-contrast screen ; decent keyboard ; low temperature development ; quiet

screen's low brightness ; limited upgrade options ; short battery life compared with similar devices

Acer shows a sense of the essential requirements placed on an office laptop with the Aspire E5-722-662J. A good keyboard and high-contrast screen allow fatigue-free working even over a prolonged period of time, making it a worthwhile investment for...

Acer Aspire E5-473G Notebook Review

Hot head. The Acer Aspire E5-473G is an inexpensive multimedia notebook with current components. Thanks to the dedicated Nvidia GeForce 940M GPU, even gaming sessions are possible. The cooling solution, however, reaches its limit pretty quickly and the...

appealing chassis design, fast enough for some games, matte FHD display

cooling solution not powerful enough, CPU throttling when you use the Nvidia GPU, TN panel with blue cast and low brightness, ports very far at the front, Clickpad leaves a cheap impression, no keyboard illumination, limited maintainability

A multimedia notebook or all-rounder with a 14-inch screen is a pretty rare thing these days, because this segment is usually occupied by business notebooks. Acer's Aspire E5 wants to be an inexpensive all-rounder and can actually convince in some...

Big brother. Is bigger also better in this case? Our comparison review will uncover this with respect to old problem areas such as the display. The 15.6-inch model achieved consistently strong results in our previous review. We expected the same from...

solid notebook for 700 Euro, system noise under load, good touchpad, 24 months manufacturer's warranty, does not get too hot, The Acer E5-771G performs very well in most aspects

erratic noise while idle, limited maintainability, battery life, A robust case, maintenance hatches, a longer battery life

Acer Aspire E5-722-2611 Notebook Review

Quiet and cool. The Aspire does not have a whole lot of CPU performance, but it is completely sufficient for office tasks and web browsing. Advantages of the system are the low temperature development, the quiet operating noise and the good keyboard....

only gets lukewarm, runs quietly, 24-month warranty, good keyboard, decent battery runtimes

no maintenance hatch

Acer’s Aspire E5-722 is a 17.3-inch notebook for your desk at home. The system provides sufficient performance for office and web applications, but it also manages the playback of video streams. It does not really get warm at all and also runs very...
