Acer Aspire F17 F5-771G (i5, GTX 950M) Laptop Review

Whisperer in disguise. Acer's 17-inch aluminum multimedia machine surprised us with its unexpectedly quiet gaming qualities. Is the 699-Euro ($800) laptop worth it despite its drawbacks?

very quiet under load ; aluminum lid and keyboard shell ; RAM and HDD maintenance flap ; GDDR5 video RAM ; modern Kaby Lake processor ; 1 free RAM Slot ; display: brightness and contrast ratio

GPU throttled under load ; poor battery life ; no SSD storage and operating system on the US $800 base model ; no maintenance flap for battery and fans ; USB port spacing too narrow ; tiny keys ; slight screen bleeding ; power button part of the...

The Acer Aspire F17 F5-771G is an affordable, well-made all-round device that can be purchased for around 699 Euros ($800). However, the base model lacks fast SSD storage and an operating system, which will not matter to those who already own a Windows...

Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-53V1 Notebook Review

Inexpensive multimedia talent. In the Aspire F15, Acer combines a ULV processor with enough RAM and a dedicated GPU. These specifications appear good on paper and the price is significantly under 1000 Euros ($1104). We will reveal the weaknesses of the...

good input devices ; GeForce GTX 950M with 4GB GDDR5 VRAM ; decent battery life ; moderate system noise ; stable case ; attractive pricing ; maintenance hatch ; high color space coverage ; 24-month warranty

high temperatures under load ; only installed HDD ; keyboard lettering too delicate ; Housing surfaces attract fingerprints ; no operating system

The Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-53V is a long-lasting 15-inch multimedia notebook with gaming abilities for an attractive price significantly under 1000 Euros ($1104). The combination of the ULV Skylake processor and dedicated Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M is...

Acer F5-573G laptop review: Not a bad option, if you’re okay with a large device

Acer's Aspire F5-573G is a pretty sturdy and yes, heavy laptop but it delivers on the performance front.

Good hardware for this price

Moved the 1TB hard drive to an external for backups, installed SSD. Quick laptop for less than $700.

Quick. Decent screen, more than average memory for this price.

Windows 10 is an upgraded version. Unable to Sysprep. No media included.

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Well built

Not sure why it takes Windows 10 somewhere close to a half an hour just to setup an initial account when you first turn the thing on, but it is what it is, and unless the system crashes you should only have to go through it once for each user.

The case is surprisingly well built, does not feel flimsy as other laptops in this price range can be. Very quick and responsive.

The only con I can think of about the laptop itself would have to be the ten-key. It is a bit narrow, even for people with regular sized hands. This will take some getting used to.
