Acer Aspire V3 review: an affordable, Kepler-packing laptop for back-to-school season

Back in March at CeBIT, Acer unveiled a slew of new laptops, among which the Aspire Timeline Ultra M3 Ultrabook was easily the most celebrated. But while

Great graphics performance ; Comfortable keyboard ; Good value for price

Middling battery life ; Heavier than other 15-inchers

The Acer Aspire V3 offers NVIDIA graphics, great performance and a first-class keyboard. At $850, it's a natural pick for the back-to-school season.

Acer Aspire V3-772G-9460

The Acer Aspire V3-772G-9460 is a decent 17-inch desktop replacement laptop with plenty of entertainment options, but it has a few issues we didn't expect to see at this price.

Full HD 17-inch display. Blu-ray optical drive. Both SSD and HDD storage.

Expensive. No touch screen. So-so performance. Some issues with touchpad gesture support. Lots of bloatware. Short battery life.

Conclusion The Acer Aspire V3-772G-9460 is one of the few 17-inch desktop replacements we've reviewed in recent months, and for some shoppers the 17-inch, 1080p display and Blu-ray drive will be enough to justify buying it. On the performance side,...

Acer Aspire V3 review: "Budget desktop replacement” needn’t be an oxymoron

Yes, you can buy a 17.3-inch Haswell-powered notebook with a discrete GPU for $1100. Just be prepared to make some compromises in features.

Reasonably priced ; Equipped with a discrete graphics processor ; Excellent speakers

Lacks an SSD ; Short battery life ; Relatively low benchmark performance (aside from gaming)

It's not the fastest desktop replacement we've seen, but the Aspire V3 is a very good mobile-entertainment value.

Acer Aspire V3 reviewed: Budget powerhouse

If you've only got $800 to spend and want the best performance money can buy, Acer's top-of-the-line midrange budget laptop, the Aspire V3-571G-9435, is worth your attention.

The ; has a fast quad-core Core i7 processor and powerful Nvidia graphics, matching what you'd see in a high-end 15-inch laptop for a fraction of the cost.

Mediocre screen quality, a plastic, budget-feeling body, and poor touch-pad responsiveness keep this from being a premium product.

Budget laptop shoppers looking for pure performance for $800 should flock to the Acer Aspire V3-571G-9435, but those looking for a comfortable, easily portable laptop should look elsewhere.

Acer Aspire V3-571G-9435: The Value Proposition

We've had plenty of Acer laptops come in for review over the years (along with visits from their close relatives, Gateway). Rarely do we find such laptops reaching for the upper echelons of performance, build quality, design, or features, and yet many...

If you’re looking for something that will wow like the MacBook Pro Retina, and a sexy Ultrabook, obviously Acer’s C3-571G isn’t for you. Many elements of the industrial design (like the black glossy black plastic finish) feel like a throwback to...

Acer Aspire V3-372-57CW Subnotebook Review

Let the games begin. A subnotebook suitable for gaming, but with Intel Graphics - is that even possible? The Acer Aspire V3-372 puts an end to the question and it does so at an attractive price point. Is that alone enough though for us to recommend...

slim design ; solid construction ; USB Typ C ; IPS display with great viewing angle stability ; high performance ; handles games ; good speakers ; long battery life

not easy to maintain ; can get a little noisy under load ; graphics driver issues at times ; display brightness and color accuracy could be better

At 720 Euro (~$800), Acer's Aspire V3-372-57CW is certainly an attractive package. In some areas, the subnotebook handily competes with the much more expensive Asus Zenbook UX303UB. The build quality and the input devices won't satisfy everyone, but...

Acer Aspire V3-575G-5093 Notebook Review

Premium allrounder, light edition. Not long ago, we reviewed the Acer Aspire V5-591G-71K2. That notebook - equipped with a modern Intel quad-core CPU and a GeForce GTX 950M - particularly impressed us with its performance. How does the sibling with...

non-glare display ; decent input devices ; keyboard is backlit

no maintenance hatch ; brightness and contrast are average ; crackling sound during audio playback ; performance not constant at maximum load

At the time of writing, the Acer Aspire can be found online for about 790 Euro (~$880). All things considered, the V3-575G is a pretty average multimedia allrounder-notebook, which doesn't manage to stand out from the crowd. The input devices are...

Acer Aspire V3-574G Notebook Review

Tight is not always right. Acer's new all-rounder catches the attention with its good connectivity, fast SSD, and an IPS screen. The battery life, however, is only average because Acer has slimmed down the battery significantly compared with that of...

Matte IPS screen, Decent application performance, Gaming suitable, Swift SSD, Good input devices

No maintenance cover, Middling battery life, Reduced screen brightness in battery mode

Acer's Aspire V3-574G has more than enough computing power for routine use, and renders computer games smoothly. The installed solid-state drive ensures a fast-running system. The laptop does not produce much noise during normal use and barely heats...

Acer Aspire V3-371 Notebook Review

Solid inner values. Acer introduces its updated Aspire V3-371-58DJ right after Intel released its new, economic Broadwell processors. We will find out whether the CPU refresh is enough to stand out from the competition.

Battery life, System performance, Matte, Full HD screen, Temperature development, Design, Fan characteristics

Build, Screen's brightness and contrast, Viewing angle stability, Interface positioning, No maintenance cover, Thin power supply's connector could deform

Acer demands just 700 Euros (~$800) for a laptop with a Full HD screen, SSD storage, 8 GB of working memory, and a new Intel Core i5-5200U. We discovered where this price takes its toll right at the beginning. Although an aluminum coating has been...
