Acer TravelMate Spin B1 Convertible Review

Weakling with odd clickpad design. Laptops for the educational sector need to be both sturdy and inexpensive. The Acer TravelMate Spin B1 fulfills with these requirements, but a closer look reveals many shortcomings.

colorful Full-HD display ; always silent - no fan ; sturdy chassis ; flexible with touchscreen and pen support

strange clickpad design ; CPU doesn't reach its potential ; glossy display ; mediocre battery life

The TravelMate Spin B1 isn't a mainstream convertible, but a laptop specifically designed specifically for the education sector. Given the target audience, Acer did quite a few things right. Classroom use requires a sturdy chassis and the Spin B1...

Acer TravelMate B117-M-P16Q Netbook Review

Inexhaustible. The TravelMate B117-M offers silent operation, very long battery runtimes, and a three-year warranty. At a price of 550 Euros (~$616), it is not one of the cheapest models. The installed SSD and Windows 7 and Windows 10 Pro version are...

matte screen ; solid casing ; fast SSD ; maintenance hatch ; very good battery life ; three-year warranty

dark, viewing-angle dependent screen ; screen dims in battery mode

Acer's little netbook has been made for use in educational institutions. The robust casing proves this. The installed processor has enough computing power for basic office and Internet applications. The laptop always runs quietly and does not get...

Quick Review Acer TravelMate B113-M Notebook

On the move? When you're looking for a portable travel companion,

small and portable; decent keyboard; matte screen; good overall performance; power-saving CPU

stability of the display lid; placement of ports (for left-handers); unconventional touchpad; screen brightness; relatively short battery life

A brighter screen and longer battery life would both be appreciated.

Acer TravelMate B1 (B118) review – a tiny tank in disguise

To be honest, the TravelMate B118 won't catch your eye from the first sight. It is clunky, plasticky and has a rubber all around it. In fact, it looks more like a toy, than as professional ha…

Decent price tag;Great keyboard;SD card slot and Ethernet connection in a very well populated I/O;Very good battery life;Doesn’t use harmful PWM for brightness adjustment;Very rigid body with a rubber “bumper” and spill-resistant keyboard

Dated design;Covers only 51% of sRGB;Poor viewing angles and contrast ratio;Lacks a USB Type-C port

Acer TravelMate B1 (B114-21) review – is Windows 10 S up to the task?

Acer's TravelMate family is known for its business devices. However, B114 is not quite a typical laptop for work. Instead, it is aimed more at education and predominantly browsing the Web. A …

Wide I/O connectivity with an SD card reader;Great upgradability for the class;Decent battery life

Narrow viewing angles and low resolution – 1366 x 768p;Covers only 52% of sRGB;Poor performance;Windows 10 S is very limited (you can still upgrade to the non-S version)

Disappointed

I'd read all the reviews I could find (NewEgg and elsewhere) and thought and hoped and believed that this computer would be the answer to my Travel issues. I am SO disappointed at being unable to use it. Maybe a person below the age of 35 can see it...

I loved how small this little goodie is. that's why I bought it. Others didn't like the screen, said it wasn't brightly lit enough, but that didn't bother me, and I really liked that it tilted generously so I could get the right angle for viewing...

I had the computer up & running for several weeks. I actually found myself avoiding it, totally unlike me. The keypad was a huge problem, and the type size on the screen was a huge problem. I'm 70. Even with glasses, I couldn't see the darn thing w/o...

Pretty Nice - except the screen

The Asus He1000 netbook I bought about 5 years ago was a Home Run Hit at the time. It basically had and did everything I wanted. Only bad thing about it was the mouse buttons that were hard to push, I lived with it. I spent roughly $400 for that unit...

Jeremiah J’s review is SPOT ON! I read his review before purchasing and I too can live with the cons. Now, I’ll add my take ; I am a IT Consultant constantly going from client site to client site. I bought this unit as a replacement for my 5 year old...

The screen is definitely a huge step down from my netbook….Yep, my netbook. Looses one egg for that. The contrast ratio on the netbook was far higher and the Acer just looks washed out at times. I thought this would be a deal breaker but because of its...

Solid performer, good value

It was easy to upgrade the RAM but there was NO documentation available that was useful as the manual did not correspond to the actual unit. The documentation showed a hatch that could be opened to access the RAM and the actual unit had no such hatch....

Able to be upgraded to 8 GB RAM. Good value

Could come with better documentation or have better documentation available online

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Nice little laptop

I needed something small and inexpensive that still had a bit of speed. Wasn't real concerned about the power, i3 works for what I need. Added 4GB more ram, a Samsung 840 EVO SSD and a fresh copy of Win 8.1. Flies now, boots in 8 seconds, plenty...

The touchpad isn't the best
